Interesting to see that Stanford adcoms visit these boards. I wonder what they’re thinking of us debating about the 9th.

Probably laughing at our anxiousness at such an arbitrary thing.

still i don’t think adcoms would have CC open as they go over applications. that guy from StanfordCS’s link seems like an exception. probably they’re just looking to see the general reputation of the school and applicants’ interest…

So what made you decide on REA at Stanford vs other schools? Have you always “known” you’d apply there, or did you have some other influence? Will you really be “devastated” if you don’t get in, or will it be more like “well, that’s one fantasy that didn’t happen, ha ha can’t believe I REALLY thought I’d get in” Me, I actually kind of enjoy the fantasy, like thinking about what you’re getting for Christmas or your birthday. Like, I got a different gift than I asked for, but the gift I got was pretty great. I really love my match/safety (now watch me not get in because I couldn’t apply EA!)

At the beginning, it was mostly because of my parents, but after about a week in, I started becoming obsessed haha. Rejection will hurt a lot (mostly because I’ll need to wait until April to find out where I get in), but I think I’ll be over it in a week or two.

Open-note, open-book, take-home exams are great! Until you realize that it’s take-home because your professor is so new to teaching the subject (first year) that you didn’t learn everything on the test, so no amount of notes will help you, and it’s so hard that no book will be able to save you. Great.

If I get rejected, which is going to happen lol, I will have to burn 6 hoodies, 4 t-shirts, 2 pants, and 1 jacket. I have wanted to go to Stanford since the age of 5. My mom has a recording of me when I was 5 saying “I’m going to Stanford.” So yeah, I’ll be pretty disappointed.

On another note, I was taking a nap because I have to go to work tonight, I had a dream it was December 9th and I logged into my Gmail account and there it was, an email with the subject headline “Stanford Admission Decision”, I click on the email and guess what? I woke up and my dream was over. Are you kidding me? Just another second and I would of known ahhhhh. The man upstairs is toying with me, but it’s all good. Talk about the ultimate climax.

I had one similar to this in 8th grade before we got FCAT scores, which is a state mandated test to determine proficiency in Reading, Math, Science, and Writing, and I had a dream they day before we got scores that I received a perfect score on the Florida Writes. So, the next day, my dream came to fruition. It was really kinda creepy. Because, in my dream our teacher put on the movie “Titanic”, because she was calling us to the back of the classroom to tell us our FCAT Writes scores and then she said we could use our phones to call our parents. So, the next day, my teacher put on the “Titanic” and I knew it was going to be a good day. I have these creepy visions sometimes, which have come to fruition.

@texaspg, I go to the same highschool that the ogwumike sisters went to! Nneka graduated when we were in 8th grade, so I never got to hear or know about her, but Chiney was number 2 in her class and was our senior class president. She was a very strong candidate for Stanford without her URM and athletics!

Maybe you’re the embodiment of Mrs. Petrelli from “Heroes.”

Or Raven from Disney Channel’s “That’s So Raven.”

Twelve days everyone! Or less if Stanford decides to let us know early…eek!

@Newtocollege

I visited around 11 colleges on the east coast with family about three years ago for my sister, who graduated in 2010. Of course we visited many awesome universities such as MIT, Yale, Princeton, Harvard, UPenn, Brown, etc etc and I liked most of them but none really stood out to us. A year later, my family decided to take a trip to CA and check out Stanford. Both my sister and i fell in love with it and it became our first choice. Location, weather, academics, campus, students… just everything seemed perfect. She applied there REA and was accepted, and now it’s my turn to apply there REA and see how i do. My parents have influenced me as well because they love the school and have said it would be super convenient for them to visit my sister and i or vice versa during the holidays haha.

I absolutely loved it when I visited last spring. Also, none of my other schools had early action and I wasn’t ready to commit but liked the idea of finding out a decision by December. So I applied to Stanford REA.

@StanfordCS O_o, why did you buy THAT many Stanford accessories?

Stuff that I have accumulated throughout the years.

I have always loved Stanford, so when ever I grow out of clothing, I buy Stanford clothing lol.

These next 5 days are gonna be rough

Yes they will be.

465816 SECONDS UNTIL DECISIONS!!!

But the 3 weeks after next week are gonna be even worse

Unless you’re one of the few lucky students who were admitted.

Has there ever been a year on CC where nobody was accepted to Stanford from this forum?

I doubt it, its mostly amazingly good students who use CC
