I’m the only one too!! It feels weird that I’m the only one anxious this week!

haha ya stanfordcs, I play football too! what position are you?

Does anyone else know a recruited athlete that has already been accepted? I know one that has not so great test scores and no AP’s and got accepted in October. The admissions office told him he needed to change his schedule to keep his acceptance.

@blablabla- my friend got a likely letter from Stanford for sailing, but turned it down for Harvard.

It seems a little crazy how much easier it is for recruited athletes. Do you guys know if it helps at all if you’re going to be a walk on, but not a recruited athlete?

Reading that 1998 thing makes me feel uneasy…those applicants were all impressive, and they had to choose one of three. I know that I’m not a “clear admit”, and I think my stats are solid enough to get me “thrown in the water”, but I’m not sure whether I’ll be likable enough to get pulled back out! (apologies to anyone sensitive to overly cheesy metaphors)

I’m fairly sure most of us on CC are going to be in the swimming pile…which probably means we’re directly competing with each other. YAY.

Also, @newtocollege, I wish I could just wait patiently. I consider myself a fairly logical person so I understand that decisions have likely already been made and my fate has been sealed, but I hate when I can’t control things. And this is definitely something I can’t control.

Oh hey, a third swimmer joins the party! (My best event btw is the 100 fly)

I play Defensive Back.

I’m Team Captain and have been for 3 years. Last year we went to the state championship for Class 6A in FHSAA (Florida). I played WR AND DB during the regular season and post season, so I had no time to rest.

Then, this season my school got moved up to Class 8A, the highest class in the state of Florida. I played DB and WR, but last week, we lost in the second round of Regionals to a team that averaged 57 points a game.

Nice squige, what your best time in it?!? and I play the same thing StanfordCS! its really the best position there is if you ask me

Did you all know Stanford women’s soccer won the national championship last weekend?

I’m the only one in my school applying rea. And nobody knows I’m applying so after I hear about my rejection, I can just return to my regularly-scheduled programming. So happy about that. There will probably be a ton RD.

Oh, question: If you are in the 9%, will you still apply to other colleges, or will you just be done?

I didn’t tell anybody that I applied REA either.

If I get accepted, then hell no I won’t apply anywhere else. I want me some Palo Alto sunshine!

We have one of the best high school teams in the country, last year we were ranked #1 in the state of Florida, also ranked #1 in the NATION by USATODAY. We had 6 people recruited by University of Alabama, 5 recruited LSU, and 10 recruited by Boise State University. And if you know anything about college football, those are the best teams in the nation.

We had the #1 safety in the country who went to Alabama, and a friend for life. We had the #3 running back in the country who also went to Alabama, and another friend for life.

They’re getting me FREE tickets to the National Championship Game!!!

I am still applying to my other schools. I’m applying to 8 total including Stanford. What about you, Newtocollege?

yea i wouldnt apply anywhere else. i wish it were early descision instead of early action

@Newtocollege I was planning on applying to 2 more reach schools(MIT and Harvard - I can’t decide between Palo Alto or Boston) just for laughs.

Awesome! Other swimmers! My best/favorite event is the 500 free. My friends call me a masochist haha.

And I’m applying to 13. I don’t even know what I was thinking.

ahh nice man, that one’s intense! what’s your best time in it? and I’m definitely more of a sprinter personally, I can’t swim all year round with football too so I never have time to build my endurance up for events like that.

Does anyone know if last year Stanford notified people about deicions coming out earlier than expected?

@trekker5211 I’m from the east coast also. Whenever you bring up like going to CA do people say why would you ever go that far away, it’s like 3000 miles away from home
?

“In, modern English, Asians, Whites, and Internationals get the raw end of the deal.”

—but there are 3x the amount of spots for you lol …URMs are stuck as 25% of the school. God forbid it goes up a point or two - shots would be fired! eye roll

Yes, but it’s much harder to get admitted if you’re an ORM than URM.
