Official Stanford SCEA 2017 Applicants' Discussion Thread

2 hours would be enough time to finish the essay, but def not to also study for two quizzes. I think it’s time I took matters into my own hands and committed suicide

:"< what if your stanford acceptance letter is on its way to your house.
you can do this!

You can do it! Please don’t kill yourself, remember you’re chill?

Yeah okay. Stanford acceptance letter. And chillness. I got this. yeh

Plus you still have to collect my fee to join playa club next year :)) ! Chill!!!

Alright I need to get some sleep! See you tomorrow, I’ll try to destress peeps ;)

Can’t wait anymore just want an answer! If it’s released on the 15th will that be on the 14th at 12:00 pm?

Let me just say, as a very, very, VERY stressed CCer (though not a genius, unfortunately), all of you just made this thread 1485930284757392 x more endearing.

If it is released on the 15th, the notification e-mails will be sent around 3:00 PM Pacific Time.

Done with Skyrim and was surprised to see how this thread got THIS long while I was gone. Woah guys lol
I hope we all get in. We will definitely make a great class.

I feel like James Bond whenever I use my phone in class. Every day the first period is a killer. Bleh. Screw this Computer Science thingy.

@ohwellitslife computer science is the worst class I’ve ever taken

Did you just use “screw” and “computer science” in the same sentence?!?!

YES I DID!
AP ComSci… This class completely ruined my dream to be a programmer.
The teacher doesn’t do anything.
I guess it can be just for my school, but oh well.

I’ve loved reading everybody’s posts. I applied early as well and have stressed out so much because of everbody’s thoughts on when decisions were coming out. My calculus grades were actually higher than all my other math grades freshman year. Loved it. And made a 5 on AB and BC

Goooooood morning guys(: nice to see you guys were up half the night lol

Quick question: If we get an acceptance email, does that email notify us as to our estimated financial aid award, or do we have to wait for the mailed packet to find out about financial aid?

I figured out a better way of comparing the prior 3 years - a count of business days between November 2nd and the release date. The # of bus. days, ignoring Veteran’s Day as a holiday, are added in parentheses :

December 9, 2011 (Friday) (26)
December 10, 2010 (Friday) (27)
December 9, 2009 (Wednesday) (26)

Tomorrow (Tuesday) would be 26 business days. [business days november 2, 2012 to December 11, 2012 - Wolfram|Alpha](<a href=“business days november 2, 2012 to December 11, 2012]business - Wolfram|Alpha”>business days november 2, 2012 to December 11, 2012 - Wolfram|Alpha)

Last year they had 5880 applications, or 226 per business day. Assuming they worked EXACTLY at the same pace (226 apps per business day), then it would take 27 business days to get through the 6100 apps (suggesting a Wednesday release).

With the increase in SCEA applications this year, if they wanted to match last year’s release schedule (counted by business day), they would have to review at least 8 or 9 additional applications per business day (likely more because final decisions are made in advance of the release date).

@socalpapa interesting.

But then the question is since they know they get more apps every year, do they plan on that and hire several more readers every year?

Nice analysis! I guess our hope for last Friday didn’t make much sense.
