Essays: Commonapp was fairly quirky above my brother and mother and constant migration that shaped my life. I honestly think my essay is what set me apart. I talked about how my first time on the campus was unconventional - someone immediately asked me to “bless” their child by kissing him because she thought I was a student. I went on to talk about how I thought Stanford students were GODS after this until I got into an actual class and I noticed that the professors made harmless mistakes and were able to laugh when they made them. It was really personal and profound.
Teacher Recommendation: Probably fairly generic. One from AP Chemistry Teacher while the other was from my AcaDec coach. Both have known me most of my life which makes the fact that their recommendations were so bland just a TAD surprising (<= sense my sarcasm? =])
Counselor Rec: I love the guy. Amazing man. It was also a bit generic but still very flattering regarding he has only had limited contact with me.
Additional Rec: English Teacher from my school. My inspiration for my liberality and I’m sure it was highly flattering.
Interview: N/A (but I wish I had one though! Would’ve been fun, no doubt!)

Reflection
Strengths: ECs, Test Scores, Quirky Essays?
Weaknesses: Maybe a little convoluted in my application. It might seem as though I were a bit… arbitrary to some.
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I guess I matched the criteria for a U. Chicago student, whatever that is haha.
What other schools have you been accepted to/plan on going: Accepted: UCLA, Berkeley, Duke (w/ likely), UCSD, Stanford, Yale, Columbia, Brown; Waitlisted: Harvard, JHU; Rejected: MIT, UPenn, Princeton
General Comments:
Do what you love and without the obsession compulsion for colleges! Helium is helium whether you’re in Harvard or UChicago or your local community college. It matters that you KNOW the material NOT where you learn it from.</p>
