blackbanana: I’m curious why do you like both Hamilton AND Paul? They seem to be opposites in terms of fiscal policy. Other than that, I’m glad I’m not the only one who isn’t a big fan of FDR or Wilson :)

^DonDraper, your name is wicked amazing. Let’s be friends.

Im glad there’s someone out there who doesnt praise FDR like hes some God or something and dont even get me started on Wilson…

Even though Paul and Hamilton have different views, I like Hamilton because at the time his financial programs gave the government some peace fiscally. IMO, he’s the greatest Secretary of Treasury ever. Paul is cool and relevant nowadays and he actually… makes sense.

Skinny ties and smoking indoors ftw

What about Wilson was so bad?

Um, the Louisiana Purchase was the most initiative ever shown by any president in the history of this country.

^^ What part of “don’t get me started” don’t you understand?

I wasn’t asking you, I was asking blackbanana.

Me on Wilson and FDR - a statement that will clear up nothing:

What I dislike about Wilson - he was racist and did not take a firm stand at all on WWI, basically getting himself re

He was a BLATANT Racist. He and his White Southern Democrats opposed African Americans in federal positions and segregated them. Oh, and he praised Birth of a Nation, even had the nerve to play it in the White House. Gave us that darn Progressive Income Tax (16th Amendment). And he blatantly went against the 1st Amendment with his stupid CPI which suppressed free speech and was a way to shove pro-war propaganda down everyone’s throat. The Treaty of Versailles crushed Germany and made them pay for EVERYTHING, ruining the country which pretty much led to Hitler’s psychotic killings – a total understatement.

He was a terrible person

The income tax was a necessity to ensure that the wealthy paid their share rather than letting the masses shoulder most of the tax burden when they lacked the money to do so

Otherwise, you are totally correct. I actually forgot about Censorship. The fact that he imprisoned my man Debs again is really the root of that. Arguably, Germany should have been broken up like Austria, which would have prevented the whole thing, but I suppose Wilson trusted the new democracy and did not, but was unable to stand up against the French and British (and rightfully so, as they conducted most of the war, even if they were misguided afterward)
