***Official Thread for 2015 BSMD applicants***

@iamsofancy1‌
I don’t think there’s a FB group up for stony brook, but I think it would be a great idea to create one!

IMPORTANT: Need Advice

I got an opportunity for a three-week summer clinical internship to shadow primary care physician, Cardiologist, Endocrinologist, Neuro, Onco, Pulmonary, Orthopedics, and ER at a prestigious hospital.

I also had a 8 week summer research internship where I can present a posterboard and possibly publish my research.
Unfortunately both these opportunities are conflicting.

In order to increase my chances of getting into BS/MD, should I chose shadowing or research? Highly appreciate your advice. Please PM me. Thanks in advance.

@HS2DirectMed‌
It depends on which one you already have. If you already have many shadowing hours, go for the research opportunity. If you already have research experience, go for the shadowing. The advantage to choosing the shadowing would be that at the end, you have plenty of stories about patient care to tell at your interview and in your essays. However, having published research is always a plus too.

@burningred‌ @iamsofancy1‌ i made a group for stony brook!

@medicineinspired any word on your end with NJMS?

@Hs2directmed - The importance of a program decreases based on the the money flow.

If you get paid to do something it has the most value. If you pay for something, it has the lowest value.

@secondchance97 have you received any admission just to TCNJ even though no word on BS/MD program

Given the condition that either physician shadowing or research is the only opportunity, I would suggest to go with physician shadowing.

@Karen27 I have heard nothing yet for general admission nor program.

@secondchance97‌ @karen27 I haven’t heard anything from either.

My son is going to call tomorrow.

TCNJ /NJMS program acceptances have been completed, my S received email saying 33 total were accepted.

@secondchance97 & @summerlover1 They just got another batch this morning… My sons friend called this morning. You can call TCNJ or NJIT and they will tell you. My sons not home right now he just texted me…

@Karen27 another batch of what? acceptances? so @anxiousdadbsmd 's message is wrong?

Thats what he said… His friend called TCNJ and they said more acceptances going out… I dont know? He was denied, but they will tell you over the phone. Dont know if he asked about regular undergraduate admissions though.

My S got a call an hour ago saying he got in for tcnj and now he just got a call saying it was a mistake and he didnt get in :frowning:

Whose calling? uggg… Everytime the phone rings my stomach turns. So he didnt get in? undergraduate program?

@Karen27 Dr. Shevlin I believe

@secondchance97 sorry… Im surprised he would make that mistake… Did he speak to your son.

@Karen27 yeah he spoke to my son and yeah he got into undergraduate program but not the 7 year medical program
