@travelgirl2015 CONGRATS!
@collegeplzz Congrats! When did you receive interview invitation and when is the interview? Thanks!
This is great, finally it is time for acceptances! @travelgirl2015, Congrats!
@GoodDoctor, Yes, they asked my son which program he prefers to go to. Yes, it is one on one interview. There were couple of ethical questions. My son told me that he did okay.
I think you probably have already read @SLCMoms’s report posted by @upstream on this thread earlier. It is indeed a gem. Good luck to your son.
anyone go to the neomed interview? if so, how was it?
any oos or in-state people going next week?
@Dildil Thank you for the reply. It helps!
@efr009 thank you!! I got an email last night and the interview is on March 2nd!
Regarding AMC interviews, if you are invited based on more than one undergraduate programs (RPI, Union and Siena), last year’s comments indicated that you will be asked for a preference (and it appears to hold true this year). After all, it is perfectly acceptable to be interest in research AND leadership AND service, but you can only go to one college.
More importantly, if you later get a rejection from the program you indicated as less preferred, DON’T PANIC! It does not mean you would not be accepted to the other program - they take your preference into account. It does mean you should think about what your strengths are and what your preference is.
Congratulations and best wishes to everyone and hang in there! Just remember that you are all excellent and accomplished or you wouldn’t be doing this, so don’t take any rejection as a failure - it truly is an issue of fit and also of luck. One path or another you will all get to where you want.
Regarding the UNDERGRADUATE portion of these programs, thought I’d mention a suggestion here. Many of these schools assume you are interested ONLY in the combined programs so if you are not invited to the program interviews they put you on the wait list instead of acceptance for the college. So, if you strongly want to go to the college even without the combined program, do let the admission folks know. Some of us were unpleasantly surprised last year so I thought I’d post this tip ahead of time. Again, best of luck!
my s got invitiation to interview this morning for both program. Gave us four dates to choose, Mondays and Fridays.
Many of the combined programs in Texas have a fundamental requirement that you should be admitted to the undergrad college to be considered for Med school interview(though you can start med application as soon as your application to undergrad school is complete).
Some other schools, I believe, notify clearly that Med school interview decline has nothing to do with undergrad admission. They will still consider you for undergrad admission.
In summary, the policy varies from school to school. So it is better to check with your specific school.
If there are any more people other than myself who have yet to receive even an AMC supplement, I was told that we should probably get one /hear about what’s happening by 2/27. If not, then you should contact RPI or whichever UG you chose. Are there any others that still haven’t received a supplement?
^ My son received the AMC supplement today evening.
I received an interview invitation from Northwestern HPME today!!! Super excited!!!
@chihuahua1 my son is going to NEOMED next week. We are instate. Good luck with the interviews.
