Official thread october sat 2013 test

Evoke/epitomize wrong?

October 24th

Also, I’m aiming for a 720+ on reading, but I probably missed around 8. What score would I get?

Tidu I marked neutral. The author bought into certain aspects/beliefs of each school of thought. He wasn’t contemptuous as selecting derisive would imply. He stated, calmly, that he disapproved of some ideals from both but did not castigate them.

What would the writing curve be?

its derisive because he actually feels contempt for both sides. In the last passage he clearly says this. Then the author goes on to explain why he would pick the middle

yea jlee thats why i put neutral. honestly though some of these CR questions can be pretty debatable lol

samuelkim and jlee, the last paragraph exemplifies how he hates the zeal of its proponents and the pessimism of the opposition (even referring to them as the party of DOOM earlier in the passage) and his desire for a pragmatic middle ground.

derisive – expressing contempt

Would missing 5 on each section still leave one in the 700+ range for all three subjects?

I put inappropriate instead of unusual…

But the question asks within that paragraph, not the last paragraph. The one where it evokes both is a diff question

jlee what state are u from?

In that paragraph he calls them the party of doom. That diction enough indicates some degree of contempt.

@dirtysocks45 and other fellow SATers: the sentence read something like “although Julia and I arrived at the ice skating rink together, she stayed two hours longer than I did.” It was similar to that. I don’t exactly remember but “although” should be changed to “even though.” I just want to re-affirm this. If you disagree let me know but I’m pretty confident that even though is correct and although is not.

Jlee that is an exp question
Also i put unusual

Can someone please answer me what was wrong with the question in the Writing section on how the black woman pioneered tennis

What was the answer to the graph one with the sales.
the years from 1890 to 2000.
It asked for the biggest difference.
People are saying 1992 is this true?

I got 1920

1992 is right

the answer was “than her and I” because it read “…than her and I would have liked.” If you take out I, it would read “than her would have liked” which is wrong because it should be “than she would have liked”
