I don’t think UCLA is holistic just my opinion haha
@shch7898 all UC’s are haha whether they seem it or not. Only thing that’s different is the average GPA. Gotta keep a high GPA for LA and Berkeley and have good essays and the EC’s
I feel like a broken record…sign on …look…repeat…every hr or more…my son takes over after he gets home from school and work…mean while Im his eyes and ears and need to report back if new news comes forth…he says very hard to stay positive as the days move on and no word…but it does help to know that he is not the only one waiting a response good or not so good…
would be nice if they posted updates like…on April 21 we will be sending out more acceptances…instead of DEAFENING SILENCE!
UCLA is too competitive @centennial13
I don’t think it’s happening today, y’all.
If UCI announces there decisions tomorrow I’m going to go into maximum panic mode…I can’t handle UCLA & UCI in the same day :((
@psyphil12 Ughh I know plus I hear back from Davis tomorrow too
Do they send out rejections before the 30th? I was under the impression they roll out acceptances and on the 30th are the people who barely got in, waitlist, and rejections.
Davis is tomorrow right? @centennial13
And btw, totally idiotic question, but what’s the reputation of UCI among our generation? Like UCLA is glorified, Merced people are kind of neutral towards, etc… what do people think of UCI? I grew up around and in love with the school and I never questioned what I thought of it, but what do YOU guys love so much about it?
@grimmghost I’m kind of neutral toward UCI and don’t like UCM. I say that because I grew up in Clovis and see no point in UC Merced. It’s out in the middle of nothing and the weather is awful. The only thing going for it is that all the buildings are new. I’m super biased, though, so keep that in mind.
What is the overall reputation of the school? Do people think that it’s a great school for ___, , and majors, have ______ type of students (studious, more greek life oriented, grad-school focused?) I just haven’t heard what people think of the school.
If you catch my drift… It’s been a long day. :-<
@grinchmeup If it’s so great, why’re they leaving? lol
(jk don’t kill me)
UC Merced was my sons first college…he got in with full honors/full ride…he had a 4.O HS GPA …state and school honors…many of his friends from school got the same thing as him and went there…they have some awesome programs and also the class sizes are small and the Prof. now you by name. He was a computer science major…and everyone in his classes had high GPA from HS…her went there because of the free ride for EVERYTHING! It was a no brainer…he was accepted into UCLA UCSD but they offered him like nothing…
His ADHD got in the way and so he went into CC…Don’t let UC Merced old stereotype fool you…its a good college…heck all the UCs are good colleges…He really liked Merced…but it does not fit his major at this time…not fully anyway…sooo if Merced has accepted you and you dont want to wait another year go for a visit and check it out… oh he did hate the COLD!
ALOT!
One other thing I heard from my source at UCI that I failed to mention was that they had gone through all the transfer applications and that decisions had been made, but that now some fine tuning was taking place, whatever that means, and that notifications should be rolling out basically in order of honors, tag, general, and I’m sure some mixed in. This person suggested closer to the end of the month, but when I asked about this weekend the reply was “hopefully”. The good thing is that if they are done and just a few kinks here and there need to be ironed out before the releases really get going, that at least we are getting close !
@BackNSchool83 fine tuning taking place?
Next week is going to be rough if we don’t hear back this weekend. I’ve gotten less and less sleep as the month’s progressed, currently getting between 2-4 hours. Hopefully I get some good news from my back ups, UCLA and UCSD, but if not, the pressure will really be on!
@CogSciRob same here, only 2-4 hours of sleep…
Waiting on my change of major @_____@. I’m hoping it goes through.
Yeah my source named deepthroat over at UCI admissions, oh ive said too much lol, but yeah I don’t know what that meant as to what they are doing now, and I do want to be careful about revealing anything about that person. I would rather go to UCI than UCLA by the way, mainly because I cannot afford to live on campus and it’s in West LA, no way in hell I would try and make that drive from South OC which is about 10 mins from UCI.
For cognitive science, UCSD is by far the best, with UCI also up there. UCLA is a great school, but doesn’t even have a cognitive science department, from what I can tell. I’m going for UCI because it’s closer and UCSD almost never accepts its own students for its phd program.
