@maxsays I personally want to go to UCSB, but it seems like UCD has a lower living cost. My parents probably prefer me to go to UCD. I’m trying to find out this week so I can move on to next step.

I still haven’t gotten an admissions decision from UCSB, anyone else?

@mb4823, it seems you and others such as @soweird have yet to receive decisions. Stay cool! you will hear from them soon. If you haven’t received anything by close of business tommorow (1800 or so) them email admissions at
ucsb4me@sa.ucsb.edu

@ian5507, If it would matter at all to you. Go to where YOU want to go, god bless your parents, but remember that this is a one in a lifetime experience and it revolves around you. Compare both campuses and make your choice! lest you might regret it 30 years from now.

Is anyone like me whose application status is still pending?

Unfortunately… yes. I feel like a crazy person reloading/logging in every 5 minutes… I don’t know what to think #-o

@vwboy1992 and @mb4823, UCSB does its best to complete everything in a timely manner. Unfortunately, things do get skipped and some people are “left behind”. If you do not hear back by 5-6 PM tomorrow please do not hesitate to email or call the admissions office. Also once you guys get some news please let me know! I look forward to hear from you guys.

@ArmyIvan
I will keep you informed:)

Me toooooooo…

good luck for those still waiting! :)

Rejected 3.10
Econ.
IGETC completed
Major Prep Completed

Wait listed to UCSD and UCI
Rejected SDSU, UCSB
Waiting U Of Arizona

I don’t understand why I got rejected to UCSB and wait listed to UCSD when I’m missing like 2 prerequisites for UCSD and UCSB I have everything completed.

@robiee University of Arizona would be an awesome school to go to!

@robiee the schools have a weird formula for choosing their applicants. I suggest going to Univ. of Arizona if you get in because it is a PAC-12 school and it is world-wide known school!

Rejected
Major: Pre-finance math
GPA: Don’t know how UCSB calculate it, according to UCD it is 3.2
IGETC: completed
Major Prep: Missing one
My GPA at community college here is 3.46. I went to a four-year university in China for one year before I came to the community college. But UCD only considers a math class and two PE classes (I took one volleyball class against my will and got a C. I have no other options and PE classes are mandatory in Chinese college.) are transferable. So it is not a big deal.
I took 1 upper-division Brazilian history class and a lower-division class at UCLA summer session before I went to the current community college. I got a D in that history class(I should have dropped it. But at that time I have no idea, since I was just an exchange student. I didn’t know the how the system work in US and I didn’t think it will affect my grade in my Chinese University), so that brings down my GPA to somewhere around 3.24.
The problem is UCSB thinks that my VB programming and VB design class are also transferable. That brings my GPA to 3.18 or 3.19…That’s how I failed to fulfill the requirement of TAG.

I don’t know if I want to appeal for UCSB. UCD is similar with or even better(in term of rank) than UCSB. I think I wll SIR Davis and wait for the wait list of UCSD. Congratulations to those who are admitted:)

Declined my admission to UCSB for econ today. I will be attending UCI in the Fall
One more seat for econ open! Good luck to you all on the waitlist/appeals :)

Rejected

GPA: 3.30

Major: Film and media studies

I know why they rejected me, its because I’m finishing up math and English requirement this spring and they don’t want to give me conditional admission

everything in IGETC is done except these two classes, they told me I might get rejected but I thought maybe they’re not going to be anal for a film major but as they told me earlier if I got rejected I should appeal if I passed this classes successfully, they said its not a guarantee but the way they made it sound it seems like I will have a high chance of getting my appeal approved. A lot of students were accepted with 3.2 TAG just because they had these two classes completed, what a shame I didn’t finish them earlier!

Do you guys think I should appeal? I will most likely accept UCI offer, not sure if going through the appeal process of UCSB would be worth it

@vwboy1992, That is sad to hear man If you are dead set for UCSB then I will appeal the F@#K out of them. Same goes for you @Harren, Many, many people get in through appeal. Its all a numbers game and once people decline admissions then you may have a second chance. You have until August 1st to appeal. Maybe take a summer class or too which are under the “Assist.org” and appeal them with those new grades.

Listen guys, I actually applied to UCSB last year as my DREAM school and, perhaps being silly, applied to ONLY UCSB. I was dead set on making it to my dream school so i applied again this year, with other options of course. I completed IGETC, but still only had a 2.77, very low indeed. I was even on probation three times and dismissed from my CC in 2010. What makes it up? my ambition to make up for past mistakes, I radically improved my grades and am actually finishing up this semester with a 3.8-4.0 (not sure yet) 21 unit course load. UCSB saw this and actually emailed me to see what my grades were half way through this semester. completing as i am this semester puts my TOTAL GPA at 3.0 (exactly if not only a little bit over), which satisfies my PROVISIONAL admission.

If UCSB is your school please do everything you can to get in, appeal appeal appeal! Follow your dreams guys.

Best of luck!

@harren yeah i know! I was very shocked. My essay was really good though, not going to lie. I also don’t have bad grades, I just got a D in calculus and that is what brought me really down. Other than that, I have had a’s and b’s in everything else. :)

I’m a transfer student who has completed all the pre-reqs for the Psychology major at UCSB. I was told that I have to take a psych class 100-109 and pass with a B- or higher to be admitted to the full major. That is no problem, the problem I have is that I have no idea what classes I am suppose to take along side that one psych class. When I try to sign up for academic advising, it says that I haven’t had records registered yet to allow me to get an appointment. What should I do to ensure that I set up my academic schedule for the year, so I don’t fall behind? I don’t want to choose the wrong classes. The orientation was helpful, but only really told me what the school had to offer, not really what I should be doing to line-up my classes. They only helped me with the classes towards my major. Please, someone give me some guidance! =/ Thanks in advance.
