I don’t understand people’s obsession with wanting knowing everybody’s stats. Who cares at this point, it’s not like knowing them changes anything. Wouldn’t you guys want to get to know each other better or something like that? Maybe it just seems silly to me but here’s what I mean.

I could come in here and say:

“Hey guys, my name is $KingsElite$. I like basketball, volleyball, video games, hanging out with friends, going to the beach, and playing the piano. I like watching Comedy Central, National Geographic, and the Discovery Channel. I’ll be an RA for Warren’s Res Halls next year and my goal after graduation is to become a high school biology teacher.”

or

“Hey guys, my name is $KingsElite$. I’m a white male, I got a 1830 on the SAT on my second try, I’m in state, I was ELC, I took 3 AP classes, I’m not eligible for financial aid, and I was ranked #14 in my class”.

Obviously you guys can do whatever you want, but just saying. :)

It seems like it based on the word from Ms. Sun’s blog and from the speculation of the boards as well as the phone-a-thon hours.
It’s ALL SPECULATION though so…
I don’t know try and get some sleep?

@$KingsElite$
We all know that knowing other people’s stats aren’t going to change anything but I think that knowing the stats of others who have been accepted allows us to gauge exactly where we stand in comparison to those who have been accepted. We are all anxious for our decisions and knowing that other people got in with similar stats is comforting. But I do agree with you, it’s seems we’ve been in this forum for ages and still know little about our future classmates.

I told you that I was from Lincoln though, there’s no way I could be Asian. There were seriously like two and half Asians in my graduating class. You know your school doesn’t have many Asians when one of them is nicknamed “The Asian”. Ha ha. And obviously you’re white because you’re from Chico.

@green123098

I know. I mean I’m not mad or anything, I just think it’s a little silly. Maybe I’m just lucky I first found the site right before I was about to come here.

@Kings: I’ve never been to Lincoln (or I’m not away of going there.)

And I am white! But don’t underestimate Chico. Our school is literally like 10% Muong. The other high school has even more. No idea why they have culminated in Chico, but they all have one of two last names, so I’m assuming they’re related.

Ha ha. Nobody knows anything about Lincoln so that’s ok. I went to UCSD’s Summer Send-Off in Sacramento and some of the people there hadn’t heard of Lincoln. They were like “Nebraska?”. And I’m like, I’m seriously like 40 minutes away. Ha ha. I’m the only person at UCSD from my high school and there’s only one high school in Lincoln. Hopefully we’ll get some kids for next year though. I have faith in them! I was also just joking around about the Chico thing. Obviously there are people of all races and ethnicity in every city, so I don’t judge. And I also love all people of every race and ethnicity! I think I’m colorblind… because I don’t see color, I see people.

Kings, you are what’s right about the UCSD campus! You keep fighting that increasingly rampant racism infesting the University! I suppose I better add a [/sarcasm] just in case…

But in all seriousness, Chico is pretty Caucasian.

^But yeah, seriously though, racism IS stupid. Nobody chooses the way they were born. Why hate on somebody because of the way they look? It’s pretty dumb. And trust me guys, once you get to UCSD, you’re going to start getting yellow fever, if you know what I mean. :)

I can’t say nonexistent, but I personally never really hear it, outside of maybe joking between friends of course. Obviously there was the Compton Cookout last year that made big news, but that was only a very small group of people and tons of people came out to speak against it. So yeah, for the most part I think UCSD is a pretty friendly and accepting community.

Well, I’m gonna go to bed. I’ll probably know my fate within the next 16 hours or so… wow. Good luck everyone and thanks to Kings + others for being a great help throughout this grueling process.

where do you guy get that “this site is under maintenance” thing? i went to the link that was emailed to me a while back and the page that came up after i logged in is like “you are not enrolled in any classes this quarter” and “balance: $0.00” etc. is this where decisions will appear or am i just incredibly ignorant?
:)

myapplication.ucsd.edu has generally worked fo me (that is, it comes up and tells me that they are reviewing applications and will release between mid and late March), but right now (Saturday 11:07 pdt), it says “MyApplication is currently unavailable for system maintenance” – hopefully that’s a good sign.
