Does anyone know how they choose the college for you? Is it just based on availability and your ranking of them? Or does it also have to do with strength of your application?

@surfer hifives Warren apparently has nice dorms and facilities and such :D

yay for Warren

Umm well my major was listed on my admissions page. I guess you must be undeclared?

I’m in Warren too! Soo excited for next year :D

Hmm… thats weird. Im sure I put down a first and second choice. Can you change majors easily at UCSD?

je suis  Clever name.

@ Surfer

I’m pretty sure you can, impacted majors are a bit trickier, but from what I heard when I visited the campus and talked to an admissions officer, it should be relatively easy.

Does anyone know how colleges are assigned by UCSD? My D was admitted to a competitive major, but to her 3rd choice college. The website says that admissions is done first, and then assignment to colleges, but it doesn’t say how they assign – is it based on grades/scores? demographics (i.e., trying to get a mix of m/f, ethnicity, majors)? Or it is an electronic sorting hat?

BTW, she did not receive a phone call prior to the decisions being posted Saturday.

Hey guys!! First of all, I want to say congrats on getting accepted to UCSD! I’m a first year student at UCSD, and I love coming here! If you do decide to come here, you will have a great time while getting a top of the line education! And FYI, this school isn’t as socially dead as I thought it was going to be! You just gotta find connections and open up to other people!
Congrats again and GO TRITONS!!

Anyone else not find out yet and STILL getting a system error? :frowning: That’s my situation. Even if I’m denied, I Just wanna find out one way or the other…

myapplication.ucsd.edu

Some people were going to the wrong site, not sure if that’s the case for you.

@ruvuitton: I guess the one thing that leads UCSD to be socially dead is that a bunch of students decide to go home during the weekends. What I noticed is that a bunch of students leave for home during the weekends during the first quarter, but it decreased a lot during the second quarter. And its really easy to make connections! Just gotta open yourself up to new people! You don’t really need to know greek members to know about parties. If you’re that type of person who’s always in his dorm or suite, then yeah, you’re going to have a hard time looking for a good time. But if you go around meeting new people in your house or building, you might get connections to events going on. I’m lucky that I have a suitemate who parties all the time, so he’s my connection. Maybe you’ll end up with someone like that. If not, then it’s your time to open up to other people then!
