idk what the other pages say but ^doomman’s pic proves there were two versions of the TAG update sooo yeah. GG. and btw, if your TAG was denied, still apply!!!

It was that easy thanks Doomman sucks it got rejected ;(

@lbc123: why couldn’t you believe there were 2 different letters?
why did Doomman even have to prove…-___-

who knows but it isn’t hard to screen shot and prove it you are right. other than that hopefully we can all get accepted to our places!

@jkroller:

UCSD doesn’t do comprehensive reviews, so your personal statement won’t matter. They care about your academic record, but that’s it. I don’t know if UCSB does, but I know UCLA/UCB/UCI do (and some others, I’m sure.) As for writing it, yeah I’d put something in there, but don’t worry about it at all (for UCSD.) A buddy of mine on TAG a couple years ago wrote words to the effect of “I want to go to UCSD, please let me in” as his entire personal statement and he got in. They don’t care. However, you need to check with UCSB to see if they do comprehensive reviews. I’m not sure if they were one of the ones who did or didn’t.

If you’re applying for a non-impacted major (not sure if management science is or isn’t) then you’ll be fine with that GPA. UCSD accepted all non-impacted applicants down to a 3.2 last year, and UCSB isn’t going to be higher than that.

Thanks for the info Grimes I checked and my major isn’t impacted. I’ll post the info on UCSB personal statement when I talk to my counselor tomorrow.
[Impacted Majors](http://www.ucsd.edu/current-students/academics/majors-minors/impacted-majors.html)

Huh. So if UCSD just had a system that accepts or denies TAGs solely on GPA, I am not sure how I got the “acceptance” letter. My technical GPA is at 2.8 because of an old bad record at a previous community college. The GPA for the classes that matter is a 3.6. But I would assume if it were just a system it wouldn’t consider that kind of thing. Hmm.

@melow: you mean you have 2.8 including non-uc transferale courses? On my UC Davis TAG acceptance letter, the gpa was excluding all the non-uc transferable courses that I took…except for one class, which is a mistake. So I think the system automatically exclude non-uc transferable courses…?

@melowe: By classes that matter do you mean UC transferable courses? The other courses don’t get factored into your GPA at all. You need to have a 3.0 in UC transferable courses and that’s it. Up to this point, UCSD hasn’t even had anything to look at other than your academic history.

Also, your fall grades factor into your TAG decision, so you must have a 3.0 by the end of the fall. You can apply with a sub-3.0 and as long as you get it up to a 3.0 by the time your winter update comes out for the UC app, you’re fine (this was confirmed by the UCSD CC rep I spoke with at the end of summer.)

I would completely ignore the separate TAG app this year. Just focus on getting a 3.0 by the end of this semester.

So since there were two different letters, the one I got was an acceptance letter?
Just clearing things up

Also, I dropped a class a few weeks ago and got a W on my transcript obviously. But, I’m taking it again next semester. It isn’t a required class, just a journalism class. Will this effect my tag at all? My friend says it is ok and that I can just inform them with my January update and it will be no big deal. As long as I take the classes given on my UC app, and that information on the UC app is correct, I’m ok right?

@sarahhmoonn: yes, I think as long as you take required courses and igetc you will be fine.

. Yeah I’d say you’re okay, though it wouldn’t hurt to ask admissions beforehand. (Why’d you drop it? :P)

Oh and I skimmed through the pages of this thread and I concur completely with everything Grimes has mentioned.

I’m taking 19 units this semester and 19 units next semester to finish the required 60 haha. So, I dropped my journalism class an added an easier class because my journalism class was crazy.

@sarahhmoonn: This wasn’t really an acceptance letter, more of a “hey we got your TAG app and everything looks fine so far” type of letter. They’re waiting for our UC apps.

If you dropped a non-required class and got a W, you’re fine. Retake it in the spring if it’s needed for IGETC.

Yea basically, It’s not really “guaranteed” yet. I guess I just have to finish my IGETC and my 60 units with at least a 3.0 to the end of the Spring and I’ll be okay.

Yup, that’s about it.

sweeet. thanks for your help guys:]
