*OFFICIAL* UIUC Class of 2018 discussion

I’m Indian and plan on attending. Hi!

We’re not in the same college though. I’m in the College of Media.

Even I’m Indian and will most probably be attending. Also, I’m in Electrical Engineering as well :)

Anyone know if OOS scholarships have been sent out???

I just received an email saying that I was accepted into the James Scholar Honors Program. However, I haven’t heard anything about OOS scholarships yet.

S2 got the same email. Don’t expect much regarding scholarships for OOS even with 1% stats. Illinois is broke!

I received a letter in the mail for an OOS Aspire scholarship based on high academic achievement and i don’t have a high GPA so…i don’t know why i got it…and it’s a lot of money (well, at least to me). I’m super happy though, and this moves UIUC up my list, as I originally did not want to go to an OOS because it is so expensive.

@bonee26 While the State of Illinois is having its share of financial difficulties during this recession, the University of Illinois has a 2.8 billion dollar endowment through which it funds scholarships.

@Balthezar Thank You for the clarification. I believe this is the same fund that supplies grants. We will see shortly how dedicated UIUC is to truly having the most qualified class.

I stand corrected S2 received email indicating a university award of 12k per year today, oos, @balthezar your information was precise.

D got 14k per yr. oos, 2200 sat, but did not her first choice major of BME.

Accepted as a James Scholar, but absolutely $0 in scholarship. Very generous $44,000 in loans though (I do say that a bit sarcastically). Looks like I’ll be sticking with Wisconsin!
Congratulations everyone!

@deerstalkers: Yeah, same here…

my son got into engineering, but most likely won’t attend because of OOS and no scholarship. Will leave a space for other kids
