Official UNC-Chapel Hill Fall 2013 Transfer Thread

@voss, I applied as a sophomore transfer and I received my decision.

Have any of y’all received course equivalencies??

Voss, I’m tansferring as a sophomore (current freshman) and I received my acceptance with everyone else too

@voss I applied as a sophomore as well & received my decision Wednesday around 5pm lol

my letter says a deposit is due May 1st…transfer credit evaluations will be available in the 1st week of May according to some email I got from them. Also got my fin. aid award today…very generous for an OOS applicant…100% OOS tuition covered via institutional grants, but fed grants/loans are factored into overall cost for room/board/fees/food etc…still a very generous offer and so much stronger than what U-Miami offered me.

yolocholo, when did you receive your letters? And which state are you at?

What deposit is due May 1? Deposit deadline is May 15th. No May 1st deadline.
Not for transfers, at least.

apologies that was another school, decisions flowing in now getting them confused…UNC’s is the 15th…I live in SC which explains the rapid delivery

But at least it means they already sent letters out! I am in IN, hopefully I will receive letters in couple days.

BTW, it’s a mail(which would be inserted in mail box) or a package (delivered to the door)?

So UNC-Chapel Hill is around $46,000 per year? I don’t think it is worth it for that much money…

Hopefully I get accepted somewhere with financial aid.

I thought it was cheaper than that.

That’s including room/board/expenses. It’s still horrendously expensive. I’d only take on that much debt if it were Columbia or something. Unc-ch is still fantastic… Just don’t know if its 46000 fantastic

It’s 43k, not 46k. . . just putting that out there.

Why’d you apply if you’re not willing to pay that much to attend? Lol.
UNC is better ranked than NYU & NYU’s a little under 42k a year.
Just sayin’

@ybing it’s mail, not a package. It’s usually in like… a manila folder sized thing.

NYU is like $60k per year. I didn’t even bother applying. Everyone who goes there must have millionaire parents.

Lol. I go to NYU.
I’m no millionaire.

Where are you getting $60k per year from then? lol. Maybe they subsidize you because you’re in state. They wouldn’t have given me anything as a Canadian, though.

Hey, I’m new to this thread. I currently attend the University of Miami and was accepted to UNC as a transfer. I have lived in Miami my entire life and am a bit worried about moving to a college town in North Carolina after living in a big city my whole life. I haven’t visited campus yet (I will in May) but does anyone else moving from a major city have any input on adjusting to life in a smaller city?

Keep in mind that Chapel Hill is part of the triangle area in NC-- it’s really close to Raleigh and Durham. Whenever I’m there I never know what little “town” I’m in unless I notice the UNC flags when I drive through. It all feels like just one big city.
