So no one really knows the exact time that they are supposed to be available?

No one knows. I’m sure Julie will post on the blog when they’re available. I would guess 5ish.

I’m really doubting that I’ll get in… to the point that I’m almost positive. I think my highschool GPA will hold me back even though I applied as a Junior transfer.

Anyways, if I get in, I would like to meet up with some of the other transfer admits. I only know a few people at Carolina, it couldn’t hurt to meet a few people right off the bat.

PM me if you get in and you want to meet up Fall '11! Fingers crossed…

sleepless night for me! cant wait!

Good Luck everyone! This is my first post but I applied and read this forum regularly! Its a waiting game now!

I was thinking of you guys while walking across campus yesterday, remembering how I was you a year ago and what you guys are going through. Good luck to all of you! I’m always available for questions, since those of you that get in will probably have some. Even if you have some in a few days/weeks/months, get in touch. I also have a “bucket list” for 100 things you should do at UNC before you grad, if anyone is interested…I’m working my way through the list myself. :)

For those that don’t know, I transferred in last year as a junior. I live off campus in my own one bedroom apartment, which I can’t even tell you how nice it is to not have a roommate…and do my homework in my underwear if I feel like! The free bus to campus is nice, and so is not living dorm life…or living anywhere near Franklin when craziness breaks out. Halloween is an interesting experience, but I wouldn’t want to live on/near campus when it happens. Same for a win over Dook.

(You never spell Dook correctly. Ever.
Also, because no one told me, if you get called a Tar Hole or someone makes a comment about Chapel Hell, they’re probably a Dook fan and just jealous. I remember being in a store and some guy called me a Tar Hole, I was REALLY CONFUSED as to what that was about until someone told me.)

KJC, I swear on the Old Well if you don’t get in, there is something wrong with the universe, and it would be a bad call on UNC’s part. I’m tired of keeping your spot warm. :)

UNC’s finals are the first week of May, so if you ask me a question around then and I don’t get to you right away…I’m probably in over my head with textbooks and notes (and caffeine and stress…), so when I find my way out of the pile, I will respond. :P

You will learn, quickly, that ConnectCarolina is evil. They STILL can’t import some of the transfer credits from transfers, for one. It shows up in one part of the system but not the other…so don’t freak out if you see crap missing. It also broke my financial aid last semester…I was missing half of it until about 8 weeks into the semester. I had an adviser say to me “I hope we didn’t spend money on this damn crap”, lol.

TRY to relax today guys. Also, not all post RIGHT at 5. Mine was 5:30.

I think that’s enough random thoughts for now. :)

Thought I would introduce myself and my stats! Chance me!

Decided to become an EMT… Enrolled in diff Community College and received a 4.0 for all of my EMT classes. I Worked full time for about 2 years as EMT and a Volunteer Firefighter.
Decided I wanted to do more and went back to Community College, retook all those F’s and replaced them with A’s. Currently have a 3.97 GPA and will have my Associate of Arts in July.(Only class I got a B+ in was Trig!!! - Hate it!)

Oh and I do some Mixed Martial Arts/cagefighting and teach the kids in the summer.
Only thing I hate is that I took the ACT this February (for no reason other than raising it to apply to Stanford) and only made a 25. I never finished all of the questions and I hate that damn test. I’m a wee bit ADD so I heard the clock ticking the whole time and wanted to throw it against the wall.

Think thats it… kind of exhausting and don’t mean to sound arroganr if I did. Just had to list it all! Let me know your thoughts!

HI ALL!

I am anxiously awaiting a reply as well.
I applied as a junior transfer, I am currently a student at Baruch College in NYC, known best for breeding topnotch accountants. I have a strong college transcript, minus my C+ in calculus.
I would love to attend UNC in the Fall and hopefully after today I will receive good news!! Good luck to all of you, I have read the entire thread and you all have great stats, so good luck to all! Fingers crosses that we will all be attending UNC next semester! :)

Good luck today everybody!!

First one to post a decision wins the prize! Anyone else checking every 10 minutes when we all know it won’t be up til 5? Mine might be late too because they had something mixed up in my application… Oh the torture.

Haha, Anderson. I said I wouldn’t check every 10 minutes but that’s what I’ve been doing since 10am. I’m just going to sit back and watch a couple of movies and come back at 5.

Anderson:

This year will be better than last year. Last year a lot of us here on CC were told they weren’t done reviewing our apps and we just had to check at 5 pm EVERY WEEKDAY until our decisions were posted. They had no timeframe on when those of us who got delayed would get our decision. Mine was 10 days after they officially posted decisions on the 16th. I was pretty sure since my decision was so late there was NO WAY I got in. Some people got REJECTIONS after waiting extra days, and some people got decisions even after I did, TWO WEEKS after the “official” decision date.

So barring ConnectCarolina spazzing out (ConnectCarolina was why last year had so many issues) you guys should start getting them starting at 5. They do them in chunks, so don’t stress if your decision isn’t there right away. Also, ConnectCarolina is gonna be EXTRA laggy cause registration for Fall started this week and people are camping out trying to get classes. You might refresh and get a blank page, or your page doesn’t look right. Don’t stress it doesn’t mean anything about your app, just means ConnectCarolina is being ConnectCarolina. (Told you it was evil.)

I’m camping out on this thread today to watch the who got in madness.
I remember how fun and wild it was last year, and it’s kinda fun to “relive it” through you guys.

accepted!!! junior transfer!

ha jk… im anxiously waiting my decision but people are getting wayyy to crazy on here lol

I know. Ive been up for two days doing a presentation at the last minute… long story. Anyways I should go to sleep but can’t. Hey BarkingHeels, will you take a look at my stats a few posts back and let me know what you think?

Nah, it hasn’t gotten crazy yet! I havent even really though about it until today. It is kind of a fun little waiting game to see who posts it first.

Anderson, you look really solid. They understand older students have “life” happen to them, I had to explain a 7 year absence from college and what I did with that time. (I’m 27) I had some bad grades and bad decisions I had to answer for, but I explained what I learned from it. My stats, just to humor you guys:

I had a 3.46 GPA at the school I xferred from (including a C and repeated said class AGAIN and STILL got a C), I started my previous university’s first autism awareness day, I was formerly a diversity officer for AMSA, although I decided I didn’t want to be a pre-med and wanted my psych phD and told them so. My HS GPA was 3.2, my year of college before I dropped out was a 3.1 or so. I wasn’t one of those 4.0, created world peace type of students. I’m pretty certain my essays were what sealed the deal. I told them hey, here’s who I am, I’m not perfect, but here are my strengths and here’s what I have to offer Carolina. I made a point to also tell them in my optional essay WHY I wanted to transfer from the U of New Mexico, what Carolina had that made me decide they were the next stop in my journey.

Oh, and the name BarkingAtHeels…UNM’s mascot is the Lobo. So I was a Lobo barking at the Tar Heels to pay attention to me, I have something to offer. :P

Thanks BAH, your situation reminds me a bit of mine, so it’s comforting to know you’re doing so well at Carolina now.

I just got an email saying that my decision won’t be posted until Monday or later -___-

ahh no decision yet and no email. stressed- did you submit your application a little late or something?
