I agree you probably shouldn’t have race-based affirmative action, but it’s better to have it than nothing, and just letting the problem get worse. Class-based affirmative action would be better, but don’t count on seeing it for awhile.

I just go an email from my admission rep saying that the class of 2020 is completely filled. In case anyone didn’t read my previous post, I got accepted to their class of 2021. I was trying to see if it was at all possible to be in the class of 2020 now that deposits have been made. Unfortunate, but I am still extremely grateful for being taken off the waitlist! Maybe they are still offering people a gap year to attend their school?

@emilq16 Sorry, I’m just worried and trying to confirm. I get why it’d be too much. The office is no longer taking phone calls because they’re probably being plagued by people who really want to know.
@emilq16 Congrats! Unfortunately, I’m still waiting, but still keeping hope. Did they say how much time you have until you have to finalize your decision with them?
Just received an email back from my counselor. I hate to say this, but I believe that they are pretty much done with the waitlist right now. They are probably considering a few more gap years until the end of this week, but there won’t be too many. We should be receiving formal rejections by the end of next week if the results of last year give us any indication.
It’s been great knowing you guys. Hopefully we can all move on from UChicago; it’s a great school, but it’s certainly not the only one out there.

@rhythmnhues Oh I was responding to another comment asking if I was an international student. That wasn’t meant for you. Please don’t be sorry! haha. This is what he said “Unfortunately our class for Fall 2016 is completely full (we know our numbers at this point), but are very excited to have you in the Fall of 2017”. Sorry for the late reply.

I know it is probably the time to move on, but I am still hoping. Now, I got accepted off of the waitlist in another school. If I accept the offer, does it mean that I have to give up Uchicago or I can still wait for it?
@yyyxxx6 Thank you and I totally agree with you. As much as my S LOVES to attend UChicago, it is now time to move on. He’ll be just fine at Northeastern U or UCSB. We are still very proud of him and all of his HS accomplishments. Good luck to everyone!
I just got accepted off another waitlist as well, guess it’s time to make peace with that.

Did anyone get a phone call from Uchicago regarding to accepted off wait list and asking for SIR.
At one point, my #1 choice was UChicago, I even had a poster right next to my bed, but as the season went on Stanford took its place (lol neither worked out), then the waitlist and now most likely rejection.
But whatever I realized I was too lazy for UChicago haha. Congrats to the few lucky ones that made it~
