General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: Holy crap. Still not sure how to react. Chicago was definitely among my first choice schools. If they only had an engineering program I probably wouldn’t even consider anyplace else. 
Congrats to all those who were accepted; and to those who are still waiting, either because they’ve been deferred or because they can’t get on the site, don’t give up hope!

Common App- About a short play I wrote and directed. The college counselor at my school loved it.
Activity - How I like to read news. Pretty Fun.
Why Chicago- liked core, like all subjects. Ended with line about how my purple car would match the crazy colored Max P dorms
Extended Essay:Law Essay. Talked about my cousin in India who lives a radically different life than me, and how laws can always be bad. THat they are not what uplifts or degrade human personality.
[] Teacher Recs: OK. I didn’t work that hard in either of the classes. I fell asleep every day for first semester in my calc class and then asked him for a rec (probably a bad idea, but I was low on options). But I sent a 3rd one from my drama teacher that talked all about my awesome leadership skills, etc.
[] Counselor Rec: Glowing. She thought I was the best.
[] Interview (feel, interviewer and general location): Absolutely AWFUL. It was a phone interview. He said it would last 30-45 minutes and at exactly 30 min he said it was done. I didn’t even talk about myself for most of the 30 minutes
[li] Hook (TASP, RSI, Research, etc.): I’ve directed a lot of theater shows and created/wrote/directed a very unusual piece on my own.[/li]

UChicago is AMAZING! I have had my fingers crossed about this app since October. I still can hardly believe I got in. (And believe it or not, I applied just for the essays–and then I visited and fell in love!)

wehn you login, go to the home page and then scroll down a bit…you should see something like view your decision letter…

if you are admitted and you view the letter then you log off, when you log on again, it says welcome admitted students

Can someone PLEASE answer these concerns about receiving an email but the yellow bar not even showing up. It doesn’t seem to be a server issue because that issue is with the decision letter loading. Many of us received an email saying our decisions are ready but there is NO yellow bar. sophia, no offense, but your post was completely unhelpful. We know where it posts that the decision letter is ready, but our concern is that it is NOT posted even though uchicago has told us it is. Any help (especially from a uchicago rep!) would be great.

hold on… my son did not get an email from chicago but he was able to log in to his account and could read the decision. This was about an hour ago. But still no email.
