Did anyone here apply as an art history major? just wanting to see how many of us there are

Since USC is a private school, does that mean that it can do whatever it wants when it comes to accepting people? Does it practice affirmative action?

Freshman applicant. No sgr yet but I was asked for winter grades( I am on the tri quarter system). Guess that is the equivalent?

If a school accepts federal funds - which USC does - it has to abide by a bunch of federal rules. Those rules prohibit a wide spectrum of discrimination more often than not.

Affirmative action refers to employment, not acceptance letters. I am sure USC challenges its admissions staff to bring in a diverse group of students. It is known for being a diverse school that’s a magnet for brilliant international students. So you’re not just competing with folks here, but with great minds abroad as well.

It’s also a big school with deep pockets, so if you can highlight what you can bring to USC and articulate why you would make a great member of the Trojan family, I don’t think it matters what your race is or where you come from.

but usc being a private school is why they can take freshman and sophmore transfers instead of UCs where u need to have a certain number of units n classes done

i just wish there was a trick for usc transfers like there was with the uc system ): this wait is just way too long.

Are there anyone applying as Theater art Design major? and does Legacy preferences really makes a difference??

For any potential sophomore transfers with their course of study in pre-medicine… How much of your “pre-med requirements” have you done?

Received a SGR today…hopefully not a bad thing since I’m a junior transfer but I am taking three
classes that count towards my major

Would it be if you got a SGR and your GPA for spring was lower than your fall ( 4.0 vs 3.9 ) but your overall GPA went up?
I know no one would know this for sure but just trying figure out my chances

*would it be bad

Do you get an email when you get a SGR or do you have to check USConnect?

usconnect not email

I didn’t get an email and still haven’t received anything in the mail. My SGR was just on status check.

Mine was on status check as well…nothing in the mail yet or email

Hey guys just made an account… I’m looking to apply for transfer next year and when I visited USC, the counselors said they like upward trends… I have 2 c’s on my record from my 1st semester 1 in sociology and 1 in college algebra, along with a W. This was a tough time and I feel like I can explain it in my essay. For Marshall college algebra isn’t required and I only took it as a pre req for business calc. How bad is my situation right now? My gpa was 2.75 that semester and I’m going to be getting a 3.8 this semester. I’d be happy to even get a SGR with that bad start :(

@Jimmy, work hard, my first semester was a lot like yours… And I still got a SGR… You never know what can happen if you work hard from here on out and have good essays.

Financial Aid is very important. But remember Cost And Value

Thanks brah. What was your semester like and your following semesters? Did you have any ec’s? I’m taking 16 units over summer and plan on maintaining that strength of schedule throughout the rest of my stay at cc

Concerning USC financial aid, does anyone know how accurate their financial aid estimator is?
