Official USC 2013 Transfer Thread

Thanks! I am having the debate between specialization and being more general, but honestly, I am hoping that having the major based in the school of medicine will highlight career paths I never knew of or considered. What are you interested in? HPDP is actually very interesting since it is specific to human health, and I think much more specific than general bio, which covers all life. But either program would give a strong background for any graduate program—just different perspectives. I am not apart of any transfer program; just another California community college transfer long shot. :)

Thanks, anytime! That’s a good sign. At least they started looking at you. The sooner they start, the sooner you hear back! Good luck to you!

at least tomorro is sunday so i wont be bothered to check any usc sights or the mail box

I know a lot of you are in your early 20’s but this might be the most important desicion you will ever make. But it is about time! Time for some of the profs & administrators to get in the unemployment line.Much of school has gotten so expensive, it is not worth it, even if you do get a well paying job.A lot of these kids are coming out of school with a mortgage sized payment, but no house.
The faster we see this collapse, the better.

@TrojanTransfer13 exactly my mindset! i’m not exactly sure if i’m set on medicine as my career – but i know SC will definitely help me out. i’m debating between fully pursuing medicine or just having a biological background to do environmental or bioethical law of some sort. i’m just not too sure if medical school would be the right fit, but i do have a genuine interest in biology, always had. i feel if i did pursue medicine, it would be more so focused on diagnosing and treating diseases, epidemiology to be exact. HPDP would be an amazing fit, being it is so specific to my interest. i’m just worried about the whole pre-med lifestyle and med school process. more power to you! i have a lot of friends in CCC and are just being beat up with getting classes and transferring – glad to hear a success story! we should definitely keep in contact – hopefully all goes well and we’ll be studying at keck together this fall! :slight_smile:

@futureMD10 wow i feel you have a good shot! definitely best wishes to you, i hope this works out for the both of us! :slight_smile: i’ve been on this thread every day haha. i can not wait to get that big envelope in the mail, with an engraved folder saying “welcome to the trojan family.” just getting the SGR was exciting enough LOL. i applied last year as a senior in high school, but didn’t get in. i appeal also, but was put under the Trojan Transfer Plan, so this has been a process a year into the making. third time’s a charm!

A little late… But I do not see an enrollment deposit box, I just got my package. Usconnect doesn’t even say I’m admitted or anything.

@d0pamime One of the letters in the packet says USConnect should be updated within about 7 days after the date of your admission letter, so I wouldn’t worry!

Hey, does anyone know when we find out if we get a scholarship or not for USC? Does it come in our acceptance package?

Do you guys know whats gonna happen if classes fill up before our registrations come by? some of my engineering classes are full already :/

taylornichooooo, first of all Congrats! I just wanted to ask you a quick question, I saw that you are transferring as a sophomore, therefore did you still send your high school gpa and test scores? I’m asking because I’ve heard it is harder to transfer as a sophomore when you have low scores for instance.

@ferarri1993 you’re right. all classes are getting full… that’s not fair for everyone else.

are rejection letters big packets when they arrive in the mail?

@frankbot no their letters

Hey guys so I got in as a sophomore transfer (I am finishing my first year in california community college) are there any others like me?? :D

@FahmanISS, what’s your major?

@FahmanISS I’m sophomore transfer from a CCC too :]

sophomore transfer, but not from a CCC. anyone else here from Texas? :)

@kin1662 no it doesn’t. it says on the “Welcome to USC” booklet “If you applied for financial aid you will receive separate notification of your financial aid eligibility”. and alaintran9 said his/her friend received the financial aid letter about two weeks after acceptance.

@beachpony USC was the only place I applied to too x) I was actually even considering applying to a few more because I came to the realization just applying to one school and betting on it wasn’t a smart idea but welp, nevermind.

has any thread for admitted students been made yet?

@bubbletea94 Haha, I was thinking that too. I was gonna apply to NYU and Northwestern as well but got too lazy. Oh, well! We’re in :] I was actually going to make a thread for transfer stats since the decisions thread in the USC forum isn’t exactly “proper.”

Out of curiosity, can anyone that got accepted, share their transfer admission contract terms? Like what needs to be maintained to satisfy the transfer over… i.e. maintaining a 3.0

I’m worried that my SGR might in result turn into a rejection because my spring grades aren’t looking too hot. I understand Marshall is 3.5 GPA req… and my acc gpa at time of application was 3.65…

My spring grades will probably be 3.0-3.25…

Can anyone shed some possible light on this?

nothing truely required GPA wise its just preffered if USC wants you they want you. and thats the benefit of it being a private school

^ i’m not sure about that. on my “Official Admissions Conditions and Further Information Sheet”, it says at the bottom: “You are admitted on the condition you earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher in the spring courses you listed in your application, with no individual grade lower than C (2.0). You will be permitted to register for classes only after we receive an official transcript that verifies you have met those conditions. You should provide this transcript before coming to Orientation. If you fail to meet the above conditions, your admission may be rescinded.” hope that helps @LILMISSJ

@beachpony looool same here, I got so lazy xD applying to USC drained me. yeah I don’t think a proper one has been made yet, both for decisions or for housing because I really need that haha. so lost.
