Official USC 2014 Transfer Thread

SGRed in mid April, sent my official transcript in early June, and received my acceptance letter to Dornsife yesterday!

Any other anxious, UC (quarter system) students out there? Just sent in my Spring grades two days ago. Hoping there’s even still room left! hah

@kittymeoww I started at UCSB but have been at a CC this year, still waiting. I know SB people who got in for fall in July previous years so you’re chillin!

@jack2011 I’m coming from UCSB so that’s good to know. Thanks! Still crossing my fingers.

@kittymeoww ole ole ole ole GAUCHOS GAUCHOS! haha had to

Congrats to everyone that got in!! Hopefully I’ll be a Trojan soon too! I’m soon applying for fall 2015 and I’m really worried that I don’t stand a chance. I currently go to Simmons College in Boston, MA. My GPA is a dismal 3.0 after a tough freshman year & a short lived stint as a pre-med. I did awful in General Chem & Organic Chemistry 1 which slaughtered my GPA. I am now an Economics major on the pre law track after figuring out where my true passions lie. In order to make up for my bad year I’m taking summer classes and currently getting As. I plan to get only As from now on after changing my schedule to accommodate my major change. I have a lot of EC’s including being a cabinet member on the Black Student Organization, interning for Dollars & Sense( a company that publishes magazines & books on economic policy) & more. Do I even stand a chance? Please let me know. Thank you so much, and good luck to those that are still waiting for decisions!

@buddies800‌ Of course you have a chance. There are people who have been accepted during this cycle with less than a 3.0. Your EC’s are good and I’m sure that you could write a very compelling essay about “figuring out where your true passions lie” as a way to explain your past grade performance. They’ll take note of upward trends in your GPA so if you can manage straight A’s from now on that would be good. Good luck.

@sunsetbeach, congratulations!!!

My restrictions updated and my interactive stars report is filled out!!! From what I’ve read…does that mean acceptance?!

@5nonnegotiables‌ really USC just gave you loans? Out of curiosity are you an only child or does you parents have a really high EFC?

@steviewin I have a sister who will be a hs senior next year and my efc was about 50k, but we had some other financial circumstances that should have come into play, but didn’t. So…

Hey guys, so if my restrictions updated for the first time since January after sending in my spring grades and my stars report thing wasn’t filled out, is that a probable sign of rejection? It updated yesterday at 2:53pm (a few hours after I called in to check if they received my grades) and nothing was filled out as of this morning.

Hey everyone. I was wondering what it means when your restrictions do/do not update on Oasis.

@bballprofessor23‌ how did you send your unofficial transcript? I called admissions and they said it must have your name on it, but sisweb doesn’t have that.

Also,

If I applied for Dornsife Poli Sci and have only completed one of the recommended courses by major am I looking at rejection?

I should have applied as a Business Major as my courses from my current institution would transfer flawlessly.

Is there a way to bring it to their attention that I applied to the wrong major?

@Coutcin Sometimes online processing just takes longer so don’t lose hope. Good luck!

@hopefulsc‌ If your restrictions have not been updated at a recent time (within a few days) then they have not made a decision. Once updated, if your STARS report gets filled out you’re in!

@bballprofessor23‌ our transcripts don’t come out until June 27th so I’m not sure what you sent in.

@gabbyrrr‌ What do you guys mean by your restrictions being updated?

The admissions office sure has been quiet lately…

@caveman495 I don’t really know all that much, but it seemed to be the case with a number of people that if their restrictions updated, they would typically have their stars report filled out the next day and receive their acceptance shortly afterwards.

My restrictions updated on Tuesday afternoon and I didn’t have anything filled out by the morning and I recall reading by some user (scahopeful I believe?) that the stars report is filled out by a computer or something, so I’m guessing if it’s not filled out shortly after the restrictions update, maybe it’s a sign of rejection? :frowning:
