Official USC 2014 Transfer Thread

@emilyamy if I were to speculate/read into any of it, I suspect it happens when the adcom touches your app and it triggers some kind of error code. However, that is pure speculation and it could just be an actual insignificant error that corrects itself. Mine has gone back and forth from the error message to the normal “we have received your common app” status within the last week or so. Either way, I’m not worried about it.

@Magico You just need to send them online from the AP website. I would assume that when they receive them, it will show up on your USC Connect but I did not send AP scores so I wouldn’t know. Maybe someone else on here has seen theirs show up?

@greengecko Call them and ask if they could disregard the electronic one and only take into consideration the one being sent via mail. I would honestly explain your situation to the person you talk to on the phone. They won’t be the one looking at your application, and they will probably be very understanding. It shouldn’t be too much of a problem, it looks like your professor messed up, not you. It would ridiculous for them to assume that you would ONLY be applying to their school. Don’t worry about it!

Does anyone know how to the admission process works? I applied as a Business major (Marshall) but since I was forced to pick a second major, I picked Economics (Dornsife). Would they send out admission letters to Dornsife, where they reject or accept you, then they send out letters for Marshall where they accept or reject you?

@Spiffyb0i They will only send one letter… Either “you did not get in” or “you got in for _______ major”

A letter means a rejection whereas an acceptance comes in a big yellow packet. I know for SCA you get an admissions packet for that school including another admission packet for USC itself. I’m not sure if that’s how it works for some of the other schools on campus, though.

@sielburt I don’t think other schools send their own letter, but I’m not 100% sure.

Hopefully we will all be getting big yellow packets!

@hepburn95 cheers to that! I think the adcom will finish decisions for freshman applicants in the next two weeks and then move on to looking through transfer apps. I feel like April 25th is when the real waiting begins.

Has anyone else been able to log on to OASIS?

Oasis doesn’t mean anything. I remember that from two years ago.

@scahopeful Even people that got denied were able to log on, so don’t put any weight on that

@hepburn93 I’m not putting any weight on it. I’m just asking.

Why is everyone reading more into my post than what I wrote?

Because plenty of other people who read this thread will attempt to log into oasis and will likely read into it, too.

@scahopeful Ya, that’s the only reason. ^^ I remember seeing a thread from last year where people thought that was the case, logged in, and were later rejected. Just trying to avoid that :)

Oh haha yeah I was just curious.

Random, but I was reading some older threads and I have a theory on 4.0 SGR rejections.

I think it has a lot to do with the rigor and amount of courses the person took to get rejected with a 4.0. If someone took Basket Weaving 101 and received an A, they will more than likely be rejected over a person who had 15+ credit hours with major-specific (business, engineering, etc.)/difficult core courses (math, english, etc.)

@scahopeful - Who says basket weaving is easy!?!?!?!?! :P

@esai23 :)) touche’

I just got an email from USC SCA about my application. They said that they need toefl/ielts scores to be sent or my application cannot be sent to the committee. I did not take the toefl/ielts test recently because I’ve read that students who do not meet the requirement can take an English test in USC prior to enrollment. I’m really frustrated about this, they say they have everything on file except the toefl/ielts score. The deadline I have is march 13 and even if I get tested this Saturday I will have to wait 2 weeks for my score to get processed, keep in my mind that I’m already enrolled in advanced English composition class in my community college, what should I do?

Please help guys

@Harren Call them and ask about it
