@Sanderella24 I haven’t checked… has yours disappeared or something?

@Sanderella24 yeah mine did

Yes it did! @RoysGoin2college

Thanks! @Goodboy23

Mine also disapeared it stil doesn’t mean anything right? :$

@epicer Yes, I agree with you that GPA is the best and most significant indicator of a good student. Generally speaking, it is the all-beef meat patty in our hamburgers that we present to the hungry admissions committee. What’s a double-double without meat?! Does it require cheese? Not necessarily. Lettuce? Nope. Onions? No. Bread?!?! Protein style might do. There is just something about the essence of a hamburger that requires at least another element than meat that makes it a burger and not just ground beef. I’m hungry now.

Can anyone go into USC Oasis and look at the STAR interactive audit report and see if they have any classes listed on the lower left hand column under “Course Cart”? I check it unnecessarily and all of a sudden I have “WRIT140” for the Fall 2014 as “PL.” Does anybody else have this? I know it doesn’t really mean anything, I just want to know if anyone else sees the same.

@HopeForMarshall hmmm…what happened last year when folks had that? Also, I wonder if everyone has it.

@HopeForMarshall Yea I had that too

@scahopeful PL probably means planned

@scahopeful @Trojfan131 I think “PL” means “Planned.” As in, doesn’t make sense because we have already taken our 2nd year writing courses. Must be nothing at all. I have discovered you can add and take away classes there as you please. I added all kinds of classes to it and removed them to see what happens and nothing did except what I did to it. I probably just started an Oasis transfer hopeful frenzy with that post. haha.

Actually @HopeForMarshall I doubt you did. We’re all pretty skeptical here (especially of OASIS).

I’m confused by OASIS too. It has WRIT140, but for the Fall 2012 semester, so I have no idea how the heck it works. I can’t seem to get rid of it though, so that’s embarrassing.

Sorry if this has been answered already, but I am interested in transferring to USC for either Economics, Business Administration, or Accounting. The three are fungible to me, though I have a greater preference for the former two. I take it Econ is done at USC whereas BusAdmin is done at Marshall.

Is any one of these majors easier to transfer into? I have a competitive GPA and have done prereqs, but I’m afraid I’m at a disadvantage because I have so few ECs (I’ve been working because of family hardship, but that’s it). I just want to get into USC, so the easier major will suffice.

Also, does recruiting for entry level financial jobs overwhelmingly favor Marshall grads? I figure quant skills from Econ might come in handy, but if it’s washed away by poorer job placement, then I would have to reconsider.

I have the “Writ140” for Fall 2014 too on Oasis. Mine also says “4.0” under Credits, and “4” under “Total.” Does everyone have that too?

You guys line for line have the same conversations as lasts years thread. Haha its kinda funny. But no guys that does not mean anything everyone has it and yes u can add classes like @HopeForMarshall said. But it does not mean ANYTHING… i will say this again you have something significant when your stars audit report is filled out and does not show the bright red error font or you have an enrollment deposit box on usconnect. Until then go for a walk or something stop stressing yourself out

@uscdabest Economics is taken at Dornsife and Business is at Marshall - both are at USC, they are just different departments. Accounting is particular program within Marshall that one needs to apply to after they get into Marshall.

I wouldn’t say any one is “easier” but Econ is the largest major at Dornsife and getting into Marshall is pretty competitive. No one can accurately tell you your chances of getting into either major. I’m sure you know the best GPA you can achieve with the most pre-reqs and GEs completed the better your chances are - arbitrarily speaking. ECs are always good to have but many transfer students have been excepted without any ECs, just look at the others who have been previously excepted. Working and taking care of your family while going to school full time is an EC all by itself. It’s honestly one of my ECs - being a full time father and husband.

As far as getting a job after graduation, i’ve consistently read that about 50% of accounting majors get offered a job in their senior year. Econ majors are up there as well. There is a brochure somewhere on USC Marshall’s website that highlights post graduation employment statistics and they seem pretty impressive. The good thing is that Business Admin can be your first major choice and Econ can be your second choice. You must be accepted to Marshall and then you can request for Levanthal School of Accounting. Be aware though, USC Marshall does not require a third semester language course while Dornsife does.

@scahopful I told you! LOL at least 6 posts within an hour about Oasis. Since I have posted OASIS, people go crazy……OASIS. OASIS. JK.

@JR2013 Yea, I had knew it was nothing. I was just checking if everyone had it. I believe you told me already about the STARS audit report being filled out is significant. I can’t help looking at.

@Sanderella24
@fdominguez

Mine disappeared as well.

I can’t even access oasis… I don’t know if I’m doing it wrong or if this means I didn’t get in. Have you all of you guys been given access to oasis?

Giving each applicant an OASIS account is such a tease. Imagine the ad revenue they’d make if they could sneak some banner ads onto OASIS and usconnect, given how many times these pages are probably loaded and refreshed during applicant season.

@HopeForMarshall Pretty sure a hamburger without bread or garnishments is called a salisbury steak. Not very appetizing, you’re right. My previous comment wasn’t to compare the value of the GPA things like ECs and essays, it was to suggest the holy 3 significant figures on the bottom line of your transcript are what admissions will see first, and they don’t have time to individually assign some value coefficient to each class you took.

I don’t know why you’re worried, though. Working full time and being dad is more than some slice of tomato in a burger. Pretty sure you could replace the beef patty with a turd and admissions will eat it right up.
