Official USC 2015 Transfer Thread

@plzuscplz I’m an Annenberg applicant. still haven’t heard anything

Received my acceptance this morning! Don’t give up hope quite yet for anyone who is still waiting!

@usc4mepls so happy for you!!! I give up hope on USC. Nothing’s in the mail today :frowning:

I withdrew my application last weekend because I made up my mind going elsewhere and didn’t want to take someone else’s spot, but I received acceptance to Viterbi CS today (letter dated May 23).

I’m getting paranoid. I went to get the mail today and there was nothing! that’s the thing, theres usually adverts for grocery stores of whatever, but there was nothing!! My neighbours are conspiring against me, I know it 8-}

@JMag95 I’ll take your spot! LOL Congrats regardless

I’ve been following this thread for months… So much stress! But thank you for answereing alot of my questions.
Anyway, I applied to Annenberg live in Orange County, CA and I still havent heard back. My portal hasnt changed besides notifications for schlorships and financial aid.
Stats are strange:
3.44 submitted GPA but I just recieved a 4.0 with 15 units transfering from OCC. I never recieved a SGR tho.
roughtly 64 units transferable. 124 total. I have an AS Degree in Aviation Science
On the board of Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor’s society
Member of Sigma Kappa Delta.
I keep checking my mail box and of course, nothing :frowning:

Ill let you guys know if i hear anything.

I feel so pathetic going crazy over something like this. It feels like an abusive relationship where one person cares so much and waits everyday whereas the other person doesn’t give a shit

Thanks guys! I don’t wana assume yet though so well believe it when I get it ! Good luck to everyone

Long time lurker. I’m an Annenberg transfer, and I got my acceptance packet today, I was surprised. I’m a returning student, I should have graduated high school in 2001 but I dropped out a few months before school. Went to community college right afterward, I bombed it. This is how bad it was, despite completing 29 units between this last summer, fall, and winter and getting straight A’s, I don’t think I was able to crack 2.0. without academic forgiveness. Even when I complete 21 units with straight A’s next week, I’m going to have a total GPA of like 2.4 or so. That’s how bad it was. Turns out I only completed a few courses back then, passed three classes with a B, and just got a bunch of W and F.
Since I came back last summer, I completed 3 units during summer, completed my GED before the beginning of fall semester, completed 18 units during fall, 8 units during winter, and I am about to complete 21 units this spring, most likely with straight A’s. I currently attend 4 different community colleges in the Los Angeles college district because I had such a bad registration date this past year that all good classes were full. Let’s just say when my registration time was open, I just saw a lot of red lines across the classes. Let’s just say that if I got in, there is hope.

Also, I never have been able to log on to Oasis.

@jasmine2468 I feel like a drug addict, always checking the mail to see if my fix is there. AHHHHHH

@Joe211 Thank you so much for sharing, I’m in a similar position and since returning to school have a 4.0. I really hope I hear some good news soon.

@Joe211 Do you think you had anything that helped you get accepted? Essays? Extra carriculars? Recommendation letters?

@Joe211 Yes thank you. Like yourself I too have a background that I expressed pretty damn good in my acceptance letter, and I’m only 24. Do you mind me asking, where are you located?

@Joe211 Congrats! Do you happen to know who your admissions counselor is?

@TonyStark93, I did get all 3 recommendations in. I thought I had a good essay in, but every time I’ve read it since, it’s not my best. I was writing a good portion of during a Super Bowl party. Despite living quite an adventurous life since I left college long ago, it’s hard to squeeze 10 years of life lessons in like 750 words. My EC? I own a small fashion manufacturing business, but I did say that I am working on trying to modernize the fashion manufacturing industry in Downtown Los Angeles, and that I’m constantly working with designers and bigger manufacturers to bring more jobs back to Los Angeles. If you have a bad past like me, then you have to explain why you messed up. I wrote like a four sentence and said that I was young, foolish, and trying to just find a easy way out. I wrote how much I appreciate education now, how every subject discipline seems to be connected with one another and that getting a education will complete me as a person.

@sugarhiccup He’s the LACC counselor, I don’t remember his name, I’ve never met him, and I’ve had like two or three conversations with him but nothing significant. We did joke about the face that I had transcripts from like 8 different campus and that was like a record.

@Joe211 Haha, I have a few different transcripts too. I have a friend who is in a similar situation as you and they’re planning to take a large amount of units this summer and fall in the LA area. Thank you for responding. It’s good to know which counselors have an eye for older students who are trying to focus on their education after earlier missteps.

@Joe211 I have about 4-5 transcripts too. I have a 3.35 GPA problem is I had a lot of W’s but I ended up taking the classes that I got W’s in again, except for 2 classes.

I too came from a bad start, I left the CSU system with a 2.1 GPA due to health issues that I explained in the essay.

I did apply last year but got rejected… hopefully I can get in cause as of now I haven’t gotten anything, no sgr, no financial aid email, no stars or restrictions update :frowning:

I just received my acceptance packet today for Roski, BFA. I had figured I wouldn’t be accepted after waiting so long, but surprise surprise…
I received a winter grade request in Feb (I think?) but otherwise nothing else until this morning when my portal updated with more requests for financial aid documents. I never had access to Oasis and was never otherwise contacted by USC.
In terms of my specific application: I dropped out of a private college toward the end of my second year, took a year off entirely, then went to community college for 2 years where I currently have a 3.79 gpa (which will be higher by the end of this semester). I had strong essays and am a tutor at the community college I attend. I have also curated art shows and had a solo show this past year. I’m involved in music and have held multiple internships in publishing.

I’m waiting to see what my financial aid award is until I make a final decision . . . I submitted an SIR to CalArts already but their financial aid isn’t especially good and I don’t want to take out too many loans. Feeling a little weird toward USC with the latest news about their MFA class dropping out, but I need to do more research.
