Official USC Class of 2011 Decisions Thread

Didn’t your transcripts show your term marks and hence the low grades.

Nope…all the exams that count are external exams (marked by an overseas board)…the tests the teachers give us are just to make sure we have a basic understanding. Mind you, we still study our asses off, but the last couple of times I wasn’t in town just before so I crammed and still managed an okay mark.

you cant say that term marks dont count, im studying under the british system too, and besides the external exams, the school transcripts do have considerable weightage , both in school and in admissions, depending on the quality of the university applied to.
like right now, as you must have your final A level exams in june too, the final transcript that goes to uni in june or so will have school term marks, the final A level grades would only be used for transfer credits.

I’ll have to doublecheck with my counselor about this, but I’m not sure if we actually issue a final transcript in addition to the final A level grades. The letter I sent to USC regarding reports says “As such, [school name] seniors do not receive a final report…Students will complete the final units for A Level in May/June and an official statement of results will be issued by the boards at that time.”

However, I do agree that teachers’ evaluations have an effect on the predicted grades they give you. Thing is, I’ve known students who were initially predicted E gain As for the AS exam and the predicted grades that end up on the transcript are usually based on the exams.

here in pakistan A level results are announced in august, so the only transcript we have by june includes our term reports and the school exams and the predicted grades for the ongoing year

We get A level results in August too…yeah I’m not quite sure what our school policy is but the impression I’m getting is that IF a final transcript is released it’ll probably be similar to the previous one with maybe the January results added on and a statement saying that modules can be retaken.

you guys follow edexcel or ucles ?

Exdexcel (and AQA for some subjects)…you?

ucles…hey AQA is hard, i studied o level AQA statistics, pretty challenging.

I don’t take AQA…that’s only for business and psychology if I remember correctly. Most of my friends complained about having to stay in the exam hall till about 10pm because of time differences.

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: ME SO HAPPY!!! lol. Good luck everyone who is still waiting. I didn’t expect mine today, so I was really suprised when I opened the mailbox and the huge letter was their. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Which school are you from cynicalowl? I didn’t know that there was another school that did a-levels besides GSIS after ESF dropped out =S

At my place our mid-term transcript is our predicted grades but mine suck =( Yeah my grades in tests rollercoaster a lot…and our predicted grades are based off those =.=‘’ Seems kinda incongruous to have an A at AS with a comfortable margin then a B/C prediction for A-level when I need like 60% to get an A? sIgh…I’m banking on the schools not taking our reports toooo seriously =S

We follow Edexcel for alevels and some ucles for gcse.

I’m in an ESF school (WIS)…we switch to IB next year so I’m in the 2nd last class of A levels.

My predicted grades were fine, but in January I got a D for one of my exams which USC doesn’t know about yet (overall grade is still a B)…hopefully when I retake I can get a better grade and it won’t look so bad on the A level statement =S

(I know USC monitors CC, so let me says this now - it’s my first D ever and I’m getting it remarked! Don’t rescind my acceptance!)

acronyms suck!

They do? hmmm oops sorry =S maybe i shud have pmed
u can edit the comment esp if ur waiting for more decisions.

haha no i was just making a joke about how many acronyms you guys were using. especially since those acronyms are for international schooling, something none of us are fully aware of. i’ve already gotten in, so no worries.
