[] Essays: The Common App essay was really powerful. It discussed an important time in my life (too personal to mention on CC) and how I grew/learned from it. My Vassar Supp. essay was honsetly, kind of generic. I was passionate about what I said, don’t get me wrong, but I think that what I said is what everyone else said (I like the small size, special attention, 10:1 student-faculty ratio, etc). My Common App essay was definately the strongest of the two.
[] Teacher Recommendation: I’m pretty sure both recommendations were excellent.
[] Counselor Rec: See teacher recommendation.
[] Additional Rec: N/A
[] Interview: It was amazing! I honestly was a bit skeptical about it at first but I think the interview is what helped me to get accepted. Prior to the interview, I wasn’t really looking at Vassar as closely but after the interview, Vassar became one of my top choices.
[] Strengths: Essays, Interest, Interview and applying myself in HS.
[] Weaknesses: SAT scores,
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I think I was admitted because of the strength of my application as a URM. No, I am NOT saying I was admitted because I am black, I just think that they admitted me because I am a strong URM candidate for Vassar. My application told a story and I am glad that Vassar loved that story.
[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Accepted to: [Babson College, Bowdoin College, Hamilton College, Wheaton College]. Waitlisted at : [Amherst College and Fordham University]. Rejected at : [University of Chicago].
[/ul]General Comments:: I’m so thankful that I got accepted into Vassar College. Applying myself in HS and trying my hardest to be a competitive applicant has paid off.
