[li] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: accepted Indiana University (Kelley School of Business DA), Elon, Butler, DePaul. WUSTL was the last school I was waiting for.[/li][/ul]General Comments: After seeing the stats of those W/L or denied, I’m stunned and confused. I wish I knew what made my app stand out so I could share with others. WUSTL was my only high-reach school. Naviance stats show 28 students from my HS applied to WUSTL last year and only 1 was admitted, and my ā€œdotā€ on the graph is below the average for admitted students from my HS, so I’m puzzled but pleasantly surprised. I committed to IU, so I hope one of you very-deserving waitlisted CC members gets my slot at WUSTL. While I would have loved to attend WUSTL I couldn’t justify spending $120K more than IU (and graduating with huge debt) and I figured I had zero chance for WUSTL scholarship (since I didn’t even expect the acceptance). I did hear somewhere that WUSTL likes ā€œnice kidsā€ and during my interview I talked about tutoring kids and working with a severly disabled girl on my job. Although WUSTL says they don’t have quotas for majors/schools, maybe I got in because I’m a business major, not a science/engineering/pre-med major. Who knows??

[] Summer Activities: Exchange program, travelling, summer camp at ^this community center
[] Essays: CA one was about the exchange trip - lighthearted at the beginning, evolved into a reflective piece. English teacher (former professional editor) thought it conveyed my personality very well.
[] Teacher Recommendation: I’ve known both teachers since my underclassman years, but now that I’ve read one of those, albeit slightly modified from the CA one, it wasn’t as gushing as I *thought it was. Still excellent, but not perfect.
[] Counselor Rec: Counselor has known me and my ambitions pretty well. Should be a lot better than other people’s he wrote - he was the one who helped me pull off an illegal 8-class schedule in freshman year.
[] Additional Rec: Didn’t do one.
[] Interview: It was awwwwwwkward. It was my first interview, so I was nervous and relatively unprepared. It was a lot shorter than my other interviews, and I felt as though we didn’t really connect that well.

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: SAT scores, GPA (eh, kinda), AP scores
[] Weaknesses: Asian, overpopulated major (History/PoliSci), ECs (too few, and the depth of some of them wasn’t fully explored)
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Little demonstrated interest beyond the optional interview. Could’ve had a chance if I had shown more interest.
[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Rejected at Stanford, LL’d by W&M, waiting to hear from Pton, Yale, UChicago, Northwestern, Amherst, Williams, Yale-NUS, HKU, UCLA/B/D/SD
[/ul]General Comments:
Congratulations to those who got in. I really should’ve heeded my friends’ advice whent hey said that demonstrated interest really counts at WUSTL - they both go here, and they kinda made me apply, even though I don’t think I’d really want to go here…

Reflection
Strengths: I think that my strongest area was just being normal and having a social life outside of school. I also really loved the ECs I did and I didn’t do them just for college.
Weaknesses: Test scores
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Strong application, which reflected my strong personality.
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Accepted to Clark U. in Mass., waiting to hear from Yale, Harvard, Boston U, Bates, Bowdoin, Brandeis, Vanderbilt.
General Comments:
I honestly just applied because they didn’t have a supplement. I demonstrated interest by being one of the four students who came to the Wash U. info session when an admission rep visited, but I am very surprised that I got in. Feels good. Congrats to everyone else who got in.

Waitlisted. Lulz. Likely letters from Harvard and Yale. Lulz. 2390, 4.0, awesome EC’s, recs, and essays. Independent research and loads of volunteering. Varsity athlete and robotics super nerd.
That’s okay WashU, I’ll just go to HARVARD instead…

@claire read my post lol
