Official Yale 2011 Scea Thread

OMG!!! I cant believe the decisions are comming out soon!!! Like, I’m at school starring at a computer!!! With a sophomore who, too, can’t wait!!! OMG!!!

ahh. one week.
My friend was the only applicant to Columbia ED from my school. She got in. I think, if possible at all, I was more overjoyed for her than she was. Or maybe I just screamed louder. haha

just 7 days left for us. Dartmouth finds out right about now. I’m dying of curiosity.

Haha good luck guys!!! I would’ve applied to Yale, loved it (Timothy Dwight College was the worse dorms tho haha), spent a summer there. It was my SEcond choice… if I hadn’t gotten in Columbia ED =) lol.

But with that said… Lions eat Bulldogs anyday. Rawr. hah good luck guys~ last week is the most painful =)

Just started a new thread, but I thought I’d post my question here too.

My debate team is going to state for the first time in 10 years, and I’m captain. Should I email Yale, or just let it go, since they’ve probably already made decisions anyway?

HopefulBulldog – IMO you should contact Yale (I also responded to your question in another post, with greater detail).

Re: Columbia – it was simultaneously exciting and agonizing to watch them go through their results, esp the deferred or rejected ones. :frowning: One week until that’s us! ><

At my school, the only kid who applied Columbia ED (that I know of) got in; we were all applauding for him in English class today  But we have a ton of RD applicants too – at least five, including myself.

Gah, I wish that I could fast-forward a week!!!

btw, truazn, congrats on Columbia!!!

HopefullBulldog- it will not impact their decision IMO this late in the game- more likely than not, it’s not gonna impact their decision. But of course, it doesn’t hurt to try

also on a side note, even though there is a '11 section up, I will NOT write in that board- I am superstitious and afraid of the consequences for doing so too early.

my school is not boding so well with the college so far.

columbia - 56 applied total, only 6 accepted TOTAL (both seas and a/s)
(last year: 10 out of 27 applied got in ED)

darmouth- 18 applied total, ONE got in
(last year: 11 out of 15 applied got in ED)

yale- 21 ppl applied
(last year: 4 out of 19)

I’m not feeling so well right now.

stupak, how many kids are in your school? Because I would say that 56 applicants is awesome (although, of course when compared to six getting in, I completely see your point). Haha, my school collated all the application/admissions data from the last fifty years (as long as the school’s been around) and uploaded it onto naviance…when I informed my outside-of-school app prep woman that in the last fifty years only twenty people have applied to Yale and only one has gotten in, her jaw literally dropped; it was both funny and a little worrying :p

~3000-3200- 700 seniors

Wow, my school’s 704 kids TOTAL…183 seniors

stupak’s school is also one of the best magnets in the country…

I’m not writing on the 2011 board either. I don’t consider myself superstitious, but there’s no reason to flaunt that at such a sensitive time. :\ Plus, what would you say? “I hope I get to write here for REAL in a week! Oh golly!”

Hi… I’m new… I guess that’s obvious. Anyway. Is it ridiculously unlikely for more than one kid to get in to yale ea from the same hs? sr. class of about 450 kids? also, how much does it help to have an older brother who goes to yale?

Our local (public, rural) high school has recently been sending one-two seniors a year to Yale EA, and sometimes another one RD. Only 100-120 kids in each graduating class. So, more than one EA acceptance in a class of 450 seems very possible.

Note that the school is small and rural, but very good – usually 3-6 NMSFs each year, with another 3-6 commended.

Ohhh… And just had two kids in this year’s graduating class accepted Columbia ED. (Great excitement!)

…my school has only sent two people to an Ivy in the past fifty years or so. And I feel pretty confident in saying that those two kids (one to Dartmouth, one to Princeton on an athletic recruitment) are the only people ever, in my school’s entire existence, to go to an Ivy. Probably even the only two in my county.

Two EA applicants to Yale in my school.

This forum has topped a thousand posts, and we still have seven days to go… although it will be more like six in about fifteen minutes.

THIS IS KILLING ME.

Why’s it killing you? 7 days is nothing. Columbia found out yesterday, MIT finds out tomorrow, and Penn finds out in 6 days. We can handle it.

I don’t remember how many Yale applicants there are at my school…I think 4 or 5 hopefuls. Yale’s always kind of liked our school, though, I think, compared to the other Ivies…2 last year, I think 3 or even 4 the year before. Maybe I’ll be one of the lucky ones this year!

hopes and dreams

Good luck to everyone!

At my school there’s one boy waiting on Brown ED (he won’t get in), one girl waiting on Cornell ED (maybe? but i don’t think she will either), and myself waiting on Yale. that’s about it for Ivy early apps.

i still cannot believe we’re in the final week of waiting. i’m going to lose it before next friday, i know it. lol.
