Thanks for taking the time to compile that, Descartesz.

107, D deferred, stats on other thread

Deferred, you can add me to the list.

The Fed: Accepted (ORM- No Hook)
It pays of to apply science and engineering to Yale:

“Our early applicant pool this year showed another significant rise in numbers and strength with respect to top minority students and top science and engineering candidates, groups we have been especially happy to see responding to our focused recruiting, Brenzel said in an e-mail. These students were joined by thousands of the most high achieving students in the world of every other background and interest as well.”

[Early admit rate increases slightly | Yale Daily News](http://www.yaledailynews.com/news/2010/dec/15/early-admit-rate-increases-slightly/)

I’m a minority, and I applied to science. Still deferred.

This is a conspiracy!

Rahrahjess: Accepted

Sorry, I’m afraid to leave stats. But I hope this helps with CC Pledge statistics.

^ afraid? why?

Can we put if people had interviews on the side of their name to see if it has any affect on the decision. I had no interview.
Ill post my stats after my regular decision decisions come in.

It’s pretty easy to track down people based on stats. Location, gender, ethnicity, and just one award is enough. It’s pretty advantageous to know the stats of your peers… ;).

^didnt know that. guess its true if you have a big award.
I’m also interested in gpa statistics

UPDATE

One week after notifications, 84% of pledgers have complied with their pledge. In two cases I have inferred that posting in a SCEA-deferred thread amounts to deferral, although their deferral has not been explicitly stated.

Of the the 22 non-respondents, only one has posted (in another forum) since notifications were released. 11 have not posted anything in over two weeks.

No response (22, 16% of pledgers)

Sorry, just posted stats today…I kept my promise!
likevines: deferred.

FINAL

Two weeks after notification, 85% of 139 pledgers have indicated (some by implication) their result. Of the 21 non-responders, only three have posted anywhere on CC since 5PM ET, Dec. 15. In summarizing the results I have assumed non-responding pledgers were denied.

Assuming deferred pledgers cooperate, I will follow-up with post-RD results in April. Past results indicate about 4-5 deferreds will eventually be admitted, but all end up with a variety of excellent opportunities. Good luck to all pledgers in the future.

Yeah…totally expecting rejection. I’ll probably be checking my Yale decision last.

Thanks again for your hard work, Descartesz.

Follow-up: RD Acceptances of SCEA Pledgers who were deferred

Two weeks after RD notification, 7 of the original 74 deferred have indicated admission to Yale. This is a 9.5% RD admission rate that is well above the RD norm. Congratulations to Andromeda1, epigramimpelled, gahsicles, getalifemom, nne718, roadblock7, and sd6 on their (or their child’s) acceptances.

I discovered I misclassified one admitted student, case540, as deferred in my final analysis. I adjust my results below for this error.

Of 139 original CC SCEA pledgers…

Admitted during SCEA round: 36 (26%)

Deferred during SCEA round: 74 (53%)

Denied during SCEA round: 29 (21%) (non-indication assumed to be denial)

Deferred then Admitted during RD: 7 (9%)

Deferred then Waitlisted during RD: 1 (1%)

Deferred then Denied during RD: 66 (90%)

Total 2015 SCEA pledgers eventually Admitted: 43 (31%) (an impressive number)

There were 66 deferred-denied pledgers. 41 of them have indicated admissions to other schools in their post-SCEA postings. As I have in the past, I have compiled a sample list of schools to which SCEA deferreds have been admitted. The list includes only one admission (often out of many) indicated by a poster. This is meant to demonstrate that a Yale SCEA deferral in December usually indicates strong prospects in April.
