To those deferred, do not lose heart! There is still a chance and deferrees do get in at the end. (I know a few!) Work hard on your other apps and continue being the awesome people you guys are bound to be, and everything will turn out fine in March. GOOD LUCK!

To those rejected, do not lose heart either! While Yale is obviously losing very talented people in their decision to not accept you, do know that other places WILL appreciate you and that come April, you too will be headed to great places! GOOD LUCK!

Decision: Deferred

Objective:[ul]
[] SAT I (breakdown): 2350 (780 CR/770M/800W/12e)

[] School Type: private, but was public before
[] Ethnicity: east asian
[] Gender: male
[] Income Bracket: 200k +
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): none whatsoever
[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: art, ECs, SATs, essays, leadership despite moving in high school.
[] Weaknesses: GPA–i have 8 B/B+‘s. i do go to a super tough prep school and none of our EA applicants had 4.0’s this year, but honestly, i thought i had a little chance because i was new and had adjustment issues.
[li] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: i presented myself foremost as an artist with intellect in my application and i went for cohesiveness, so i thought i was destined for one of the polar ends: acceptance or rejection. i thought it was either they wanted me for my art or they didn’t want me at all. if my portfolio was rockin’, maybe they want to see my senior year grades to make the final call? if not, then i guess they just saw something else in me. i’m feeling really mediocre right now.[/li][/ul]General Comments: i don’t feel any emotion right now. i think it’ll hit me later. i just wanted to get in so, so, so, so, so badly and now i don’t know what to do. i have 15 more apps to do. but a massive congratulations to everyone who was accepted! you all deserve it: go live out the yale dream for me and all of us! to those deferred, let’s not lose faith. to those rejected, please don’t lose faith in hope. i’m sure we’ll all end up somewhere good for us, if not yale.

[] Strengths: shortage instrument, good focus on EC’s towards major…
[li] Weaknesses: Crap AP scores. Essays maybe could have been better, though I don’t know how. Too many SAT II retakes. Apparently everything else.
[/li]

[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I honestly thought I had a pretty good chance. But so did everyone else. Tried to prepare for deferral but obviously still didn’t go so well. I’m completely bummed and depressed, though I knew logically it would be against the odds to get in SCEA. Now I actually have to write my other effing essays and pay 13546835132 $. Yale was my dream. Apparently I was too disillusioned. [/li][/ul]General Comments: Don’t understand why they admitted less than last year (730 compared to 744). Congrats to the few from CC who got in. I hope all of the many deferrals end up where they want to be.

alright so i originally did one of these but got really paranoid about privacy…so if anyone wants to know my stats (accepted), pm me and i will gladly supply
