I took the SAT Oct 4th and don’t know my score yet. Should I mention that in the Test Scores section in the Yale supplement?

^ why don’t you just wait 4 more days, then you can just fill in your score

My top choices are Yale, Penn, Tufts, Georgetown, and Columbia. The order of the latter four changes daily, but Yale is always on top. If I by some miracle got in to all of them (dream big…), I would still seriously consider offers from all five schools, but would most likely go to Yale.

Yale’s my top for sure. Then it’s NYU on the list. :)

The regional rep came to our school today. Really cool guy, calm, laid-back, friendly. Answered questions about Yale, admission and student life as well as just general questions, and he also asked questions about our school, which we were happy to provide lol. Btw, he said that we would be finding out the results on Dec. 15th. So I guess the date is the same as last year?

Yale (I love the school): Bulldogs are cute, blue looks great on me, and heck, I’m short (just like our regional representative XD)…aaaand about 1000000 other reasons. XD

Harvard (my parents love the school…god knows why (lol)): Crimson’s a good color, people in the middle of nowhere know what Harvard is (or has a vague sense), and my grandfather thinks that Harvard is the only university in America.

Princeton (Just because A Beautiful Mind was about a guy there XD): nice-looking library (could you really write on the windows?), nice name, has the same mascot as my highschool, so I would save money on spirit-wear.

And the number one reason why those are my top three?

Academics, opportunities, and people.

double post

Wait, cholermel, so does that mean that if they don’t get the first semester transcript, they won’t let you apply SCEA?

I’m also taking courses at a local university, and my grades won’t be out in time.

Does that mean no SCEA?

[me: Nooooooooo >__<]

Ahhh, I just sent in my application! Man, I feel so much better now haha.

I guess all there’s left is waiting and wishing. X)

scea here too, essays are killin me

For me

Yale: I think this school is best match for me because it has the strong fields in the areas I’m interested in, excellent programs that appeal specifically to me, outstanding financial aid, and of course, the residential colleges.

Cornell: This school fits my personality the most and was what started my interest in colleges (it was my first dream school) because of the tranquil and isolated location of Ithaca combined with its “gorges” campus. Unfortunately, it’s financial aid isn’t up to par with HYP. Still, I would love to do some research here over the summers/breaks or something. I won’t apply and rob a potential Cornellian of the privilege of coming here if I get accepted to Yale.

Harvard and/or Princeton: Great financial aid and world renown. The residential college system and the appeal of Yale’s campus swings the favor towards Yale however. I have to wait until I can compare the financial aid packages.

“Wait, cholermel, so does that mean that if they don’t get the first semester transcript, they won’t let you apply SCEA?”

This can’t possible be true because Yale says clearly they don’t expect SCEA applicants to have their mid-year reports ready (where schools list first semester grades)

ivychan, I’m already IN university.

As in I finished my A-levels and now I’m in my first year (of Law).

laststopforme, they have all my first year records (transcripts and all), its my law school 1st semester transcript that won’t be out until February so they’ll have no idea how I’m doing in university until then.

Gah, I just found a mistake in one of my submitted essays.

Advice to anyone who haven’t submitted their app yet: PROOFREAD!

GAAAAAAAHH!!! I want to destroy Common App.

This sublimely torturous teacher recommendation protocol! EVERYONE must be online OR OFFLINE. Or the teacher must submit ALL online or ALL offline. Or my recommendation will be invalid if I don’t put the ID on the bottom. This is a ton of stress that I do not need.

Is anyone else submitting a teacher rec offline and a school report online? Or a paper rec from a teacher who normally does online?

the above is why i did everything on papel. :)

Sorry if this has been asked; I’m new to this thread. I understand that the SCEA deferral rate is 60-65%. Does anyone know what the eventual admit rate of this group is?

It’s pretty small. They’ll look at the deferred SCEA group last of all the applicants.

water_man
i went to an info session and someone asked that question…the representative said it was about 5%

arhh not applying anymore cos of essays ><

"

Elaborate please???

My teachers have submitted their recommendations. I gave them the paper applications found on the website under “Teacher Recommendations.” Thus, both of them have a “1” on the bottom. So when I was registering my teachers, I didn’t assign any order for “Teacher 1” and “Teacher 2.” Will this hurt my chances? How picky is the Yale admissions?
