Ha-ha! My sister, a veterinarian, told me this joke. So this guy walks into a rural veretinarian’s office and asks for advice on how to deal with his cat who loves to leave “presents” in the middle of the dining table. The veterinarian says, “You have to catch the cat in the middle of his act, grab him by the scruff of his neck, rub his nose into the mess, and toss him out of the window. That’ll teach him to take care of his business outdoors!” The guy nods, thanks the vet and leaves. A few weeks later, the vet calls the guy to see how everyone is doing. The guy says, “I’ve been following your advice, doctor, and I think I’ve trained my cat, but I’m not sure if it helped… Now every time after the cat defecates in the middle of the dining table, he sticks his nose into the mess and then jumps out of the window!”

(You need to cover the pool table with a sheet of plastic or get a ScatMat. Go to youtube and look up “Tables aren’t for Angels” or just ScatMat :))

Hi ingrep.
I am having the same problem with my 6 month old sheep dog mix. She is a big dog for her age and every time I walk outside she is on the roof of my car…
Did you ever find a solution?
I can’t fuss at her, she looks at me with those puppy dog eyes and rolls on her back for me to scratch her belly…
I need help…!

Wow–resurrecting a two-year-old thread! All I can say is there was some good advice in the earlier posts. I had another thread somewhere about this dog waking us up at 4-5 in the morning and a lot of replies had to do with making sure he gets enough exercise during the day. I don’t know if it’s the fact that the dog is now two years older, or he’s getting more exercise (which we’re trying to do), but we haven’t had the early morning barking or getting on the car problem in a while.

Do you actually HAVE an invisible fence? If you do, you could try surrounding your car with flags; that’s a pretty clear indication that it’s off limits. You may have to do some re-training with the flags. But eventually (hopefully anyway…) he’ll get the hint, and you could get rid of the flags again…?

edit: whoops, I didn’t realize this was an old/resurrected thread…
