Okay MD's, explain yourselves!

Dr. C. must be making a fortune!

My H is one of those dinosaurs - in solo private practice, not beholden to a group, so no one can tell him he must see X patients in an hour. But to handle it all, he has office hours 7 days a week - yes, including Sunday morning for the infertility patients. Any patient who needs him gets in that same day, even if he has to stay in the office til 10 pm. He is on call 24/7/365 at this point. And he does run a tight ship and keeps his appts on time - which means that “lunch” is a swig of Diet Coke and a banana, and dinner is at 10 pm when he gets home. He runs around like a chicken with his head cut off, >>>>>>>>>>>

OMG! :frowning:
I have not read the whole thing but OMG!!! He can’t keep up that pace, that is absurd. He’ll kill himself.

Be leery of talkative lawyers- their pleasantries cost you money!>>>>>>>>>>

LOL!!!

Would be very tough to lose a doctor you loved because of insurance. >>>>>>>>

Yes, I did. She no longer took my Cigna Platnum. I THOUGHT I have good insurance but that made me wonder.

the patient is my customer (with whom I am punctual and eternally apologetic) >>>>>>>>>>

Shrinkrap, you are cracking me up. (no pun intended!!)

The really, really GREAT doctor wants to help people be well. They care. The current climate certainly has to be weeding out anyone who just wants to “get rich”.

There are still some docs who get rich, but far fewer. Plastic surgeons who do a lot of elective surgery and don’t have to mess with insurance as often come to mind…

I don’t know how they manage it, but some of the interventional cardiologists I know (think stents, angioplasty, etc.) seem to be really well off.
