I came across this when searching for cat grooming tips. I thought the cat lovers on this thread would be tickled by it. I can’t believe how cooperative this cat is death stare or not. Especially the dustbuster part.

[How to shave a cat. | Sit. Stay. Good blog.](http://www.sitstaygoodblog.com/?p=559)

Wow. Great photos. Our 15-year-old cat lets me vacuum him with the attachment I use to take the cat hair off the couches. He doesn’t like it too much and it doesn’t really work that well. I’m ordering that furminator off of Amazon and will see if that does the trick for his mats.

He also has pretty bad dandruff (and his fur is black so it shows up). Does anyone have any tips for curing that? We’ve tried adding oil to his diet, brushing him more. We give him expensive top-quality dry cat food and a quarter cup of non-fat yogurt as a treat (our other two young cats won’t go near the stuff, but he has turned into a fiend for it every morning…)

My non-groomer kitty is snowy white, so her bad dandruff does not show as much
I discovered that if I periodically wipe her fur with a cloth moistened with a mystery product called “Simple Solution Cat Allergy Relief” (got it at the local PetsMart), the dandruff situation got better.

^^Sigh. Someone else did not introduce my cat to brushing when she was young, and them dumped her at a local shelter from where we inherited her. But grooming aside, she is an angel.

Wow, check out these kitty hairdos! Especially the “ticked-off cat” :D

BB - those are soo funny. I just snorted when i saw ticked off cat and punk cat. I have to save this link for my daughter.

(by the way I meant snorted in the laughing out my nose way not the cocaine up my nose way)

Update:

BunsenBurner, thanks for recommending the Furminator. We ordered it off Amazon, and it arrived two days ago. Since then, I’ve used it on all three cats, and it is truly a great product. I’ve tried every type of grooming brush/comb on our cats to try to reduce the shedding on our furniture, but this one is the best by far. The old 15-year-old cat is looking better (I’m taking it slowly with him because he is crotchety). But the amazing thing is how much fur I got off of the short-haired Tonkinese, who we call the “secret shedder” because nothing comes off him when you pet or brush him, yet the vacuum is filled with little white hairs that are clearly his! The Furminator “pulled” up tons of his hair and he loves it (must be those show-cat genes!). I’m thinking our couches this summer will be a lot cleaner.

Thanks for the tip!

Yay! I’m glad it worked. I’m getting a bigger one for my dog who thinks a garden rake is the best brush on Earth.
