I’m a southerner who went to an SEC school and dressed for football games, and I’ve never heard of either of those things! 
But I’m willing to bet that S25’s girlfriend has!

We’re from CO and the SEC schools have become wildly popular. My D23 is a rising senior at UTK and she has met people from everywhere. This coming year, CO alone will send 86 kids to UTK - I assume the direct flight to Knoxville doesn’t hurt either. I think its an amazing experience to get out of your bubble and see different perspectives. Any of the schools you mention will certainly do that but there will be enough students not from the South to prevent it from being isolating.

SEC schools are popular because they are FUN and the students seem to have a positively DGAF attitude. Cocky, charismatic, sporty, work hard, play much harder, traditional, social? Whatever it is, it is appealing to students across the country.

My daughter thought the USC campus was only ok especially when compared to Alabama. She felt that Columbia had some “sketchy areas”.

I initally had LSU on the list. Based on information found on line, I read the Baton Rouge is not very safe.

Always lived in NY-outside the city but going in often. Only visited Indianapolis.
Bama and Ole Miss are great. I went into my visit on the OU campus with a bias against it (I got my undergrad degree from Texas) but I liked it a lot more than I expected.
I would strongly advise against Oklahoma State.

Bama is the strongest business school by far. Oklahoma will be closest to a city. Ole Miss will be Bama on a small size. OK State will be far less of the excess; it’s the more rednecky if you will.
There are 2K kids at Bama from the tri state area (NY/NJ/CT) - it is by far and away the most geographically diverse of the group and I don’t know your religion, but for example, it has a big and booming Hillel. So yes, it’s the largest and sororities most in excess because of it, but it’s also a school where you’re likely to find a roomie from NY or CA or Illiniois, etc - 1500 kids alone go from Illiniois and more than 1K from CA.
As for flights - your mileage will vary. Some fly to Atlanta (which I think is nuts and take a bus). But Ok State would be a hard get (closest to Tulsa), Ole Miss Memphis but still a haul and Bama Bham - but still an hour. U Oklahoma is a beautiful campus, but Texas dominant - and likely closest to an airport - OKC - a quick drive I’ve done many times.
ps - HR - not a good major - because it’s outsourced today and driven by AI. And if she wants law school, a social science or humanity will be good - because there’s a ton of reading.

LSU is a beautiful campus - more compact. I wouldn’t worry about Baton Rouge - but it’s more U of SC than it is the others. It’s not U of SC - it’s not smack adjacent to the city but moreso than the others.

I’ll add one more closest to the three not named Ok State.
Arkansas. Non stop flights from the NY area thanks to Wal Mart. Gorgeous campus. Nice town off campus. And the Walton B school is very up and coming. Likely Texas oriented like Oklahoma but it’s a gem. I know two who went - one for business and is doing very well in Austin, at a job the school connected him with.
