<p>Tom (I am using the familiar term because we’re friends…not) divorced Nicole Kidman because of the ten year rule in California. That is a marriage that lasts 10 years is considered a marriage of long standing (ergo: more money) and/or the prenup gave Kidman more money after staying ten years.</p>
<p>One thing I can say for sure: Tom lived close to us. My kid(s) had friends on the street. He was a jacka… . He didn’t have to go to the Bar Mitzvahs that he was invited to…but he knew the kids in the neighborhood by sight. He never waved hello or acknowledged them. The kids were little…stars far greater have been much nicer.</p>
<p>The British papers are basically saying (1) Katie (raised as a Roman Catholic) wanted to protect daughter Suri from Cruise’s Scientology cult and (2) in spite of a 100-page pre-nup, Katie’s lawyers will make Cruise pay for Katie’s silence about . . . . stuff.</p>

No way, it was a lawyered up agreement, one in which Kidman received more then she might have without consenting to this arrangement…And if that isn’t an example of beng a lousy parent, i don’t know what is…Now consider what Katie is doing to protect her child from the cult,kudos to her</p>
<p>I referenced an article earlier. It says that kids are treated as adults in scientology, capable of making their own decisions.</p>

<p>I don’t have any personal knowledge, but my recollection is that the kids wanted to stay in California, where they had always lived. At the time, Kidman wanted to live in Australia, which is her home. US courts wouldn’t have allowed her to take the kids and live there.</p>

<p>Mom, why the hate,lol…seriously, many are saying how wonderful and beautiful Kidman is ,and in reality, she is a sham…poor mother,signed a contract with Cruise, knowing full well what he is involved with, and prettied herself up with surgery…i would bet good money, part of her agreement with Cruise was to keep her mouth shut, and movie offers will continue,and likley better …Afterall, Cruise IS Hollywood, lol</p>

<p>Well if Kidman made a choice to leave the country it doesn’t really sound like the kids made the choice at all. And I’m not going to criticize her, it’s not what I would do, but who knows what she was going through and what she needed to do to survive. Life is never black and white and we don’t know what really went down.</p>

<p>I read somewhere that the 19-year-old daughter’s live-in boyfriend is the son of someone fairly-high up in the Scientology ranks. The article hinted that perhaps higher-ups in Scientology encouraged - and more - the relationship. If Katie Holmes feels discomfort with Scientology, well, such glimpses into the future may have prompted her actions.</p>
<p>I don’t follow the flow of information re celebrity children but what I have seen doesn’t present Suri in the best light: tantrums, still, at age six; make-up and heels and designer clothes. It often makes Katie look powerless. Could just be bad press.</p>

Best choice for her, probably,not for children… the FACT is she left these 2 with Cruise, knowing fully well that Scientology was their future…where is the speculation? Why is Cruise getting criticized for his ‘handling’ of Holmes and Suri, and Kidman getting a pass…</p>

<p>I don’t put prettying oneself up with surgery in any negative category, certainly not in the same one as being a poor mother. I like people having the freedom to do what they want to with their own bodies, and I’m sure half the people in Hollywood have some sort of surgery eventually. I might get some eventually if these facials don’t start working a little better, so what?</p>
<p>Now we cannot know the truth of someones family situation, but there is one thing that is black and white to me. As a mother, you don’t move away, especially half way across the world. No reason whatsoever, even if your personal safety was at risk (and that I doubt). No way, no excuse.</p>
<p>Busdriver, i don’t care who has had cosmetic surgery either…i made the point because many are fawning over how beautiful Kidman looks TODAY, and it is a result(not that i think she looks better today) of that surgery…we could probably take a person,lol, who is lacking n the looks department, and with enough money ,make him look very handsome. ;)</p>

<p>I would think that those moms would be great role models. Something to aspire to.</p>
