<p>1) No, not at all. In some cases (a 7-10 year career or more), GPA may not matter at all, and in any case it matters little; the average GPA at the top schools is 3.5 or so.</p>
<p>2) You should aim for “have a job that gives you great responsibility, right out of college, and then kick butt at it, win friends and allies and impress bosses and get promoted, and then 2-3 years later seriously consider the B-school application process”</p>
