One Casualty of Harvard Trial May Be Your Kid’s Legacy Admission

“We’re not trying to mirror the socioeconomic, or income distribution, of the United States,” Khurana [Dean of Harvard College] said. “What we’re trying to do is to identify talent and to make it possible for people to come to Harvard.”

Isn’t diversity a goal that Harvard pursues? Isn’t it used to justify some of the practices by Harvard’s admissions? Or is the diversity in SES just undesirable from Harvard’s perspective, despite what the school’s past public statements have led people to believe? I’m confused.
