One of the best books I've read in the last 6 months is . (Part 1)

I agree - did not care for it

Me three. I don’t often have a “did not finish” book.

It’s unusual for me too - if I’m not enjoying a book I’ll usually skim read it to the end. I did look up a summary online to see what happened, but I just wasn’t going to finish it! Hopefully the other books on the “best books” list I got it off are better.

I got a few pages in and decided it wasn’t for me.

I read it for the CC bookclub. I didn’t care for it either.

I love several of the author’s books. My favorite is The Rose Code. The Alice Network is second. The Huntress and The Diamond Eye tie for 3rd and 4th.

For some reason, I can’t seem to get intrigued by her series that is set in Ancient Rome though. I’ve tried a couple of times.

Me four. I gave up after several chapters when it was in the CC book club.

I think that’s about as far as I got. I got bored with both the sisters and the style of writing.

I’ve seen a couple folks mention a CC book club in this thread. Where is info about that? I can’t seem to find it!

Here is this month’s discussion: The Ten Thousand Doors of January - February CC Book Club Selection

The next book will be announced in this thread, usually after ranked choice voting.

North Woods - I gave it five stars on Goodreads and even gifted it to my daughter. Just thought I’d jump in and let others know that at least someone here liked it. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I did finish it and it was for a book club. There were some in the group who liked it. So you are not alone.

I liked (but did not love) "North Woods. It was written a bit strangely, as I recall and I can see how that would turn off some readers.

Many did, I assume that is why it was on a top 10 list!

It’s always interesting how people perceive books differently too, especially when the writing styles are a little different. I thought Prophet Song was brilliant, but some of my friends hated it.

I had the opposite experience, I disliked the first 250 pages, but soldiered on because it was the CC Book club selection. Anyway, something interesting happens and the book gets a lot more interesting and clever, but then it fell apart and I hated the way it finished up!

Finished “Best Offer Wins” by Marisa Kashino last night. A domestic thriller that starts out not really seeming like one. It’s set in DC and Bethesda MD, which the author clearly is familiar with (there is one little thing I “got” that was kind of an in joke). I loved it!
