One of the best books I've read in the last 6 months is .

Read “A Walk in the Woods” multiple times, cannot get past 100 pages of “Wild”! Katz of Walk In the Woods is an all time great character. If he did not exist, Bryson would have to invent him. Or maybe he did. I went to one of Bryson’s talk, charming man, and he said Katz claimed he did not recognize himself at all in the book.

I Also loved Bryson’s “In a Sunburned Country” about Australia.

^^^ Thoroughly enjoyed both those Bryson books.

And, in addition to those mentioned, loved Bryson’s book, " life and times of the thunderbolt kid" ( something like that ) waving to Ignatius .

Have any of you read *Me Talk Pretty One Day * by David Sedaris? It looks good according to the amazon description.

^ it’s fabulous.

*Me Talk Pretty One Day/i is great, but I don’t really like to read David Sedaris, it’s much more fun to listen to him.

“Oh, Little Elf! Little Elf!”

“The rabbit of Easter. He bring of the chocolate.”

omg. I forgot about that. The best.

I went back to listen to it and now I have to re-do my mascara.

Yes, David Sedaris audiobooks - a must. Dangerous to listen to while driving, unless you can see through tears of laughter.

Dave Barry makes me laugh-cry.

I finished book two of The Last Policeman a little while ago. I enjoyed it and will probably start book three tonight after dinner. I will say, the scene at the mall at the end of the book was really annoying to me in terms of the protagonist’s selfishness in risking the safety of people helping him just so he can satisfy his curiosity.

Won’t stop me from enjoying the next one, though.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see this turned into a TV series.

Finished book 3 of The Last Policeman. Any word that there might be another which addresses “the aftermath”?

@Nrdsb4 - you finished the third book pretty quickly!

I haven’t heard anything about a sequel, although I’d love to know what happens next. Winters’ next book, Underground Airlines, comes out in 2016:

It sounds like it could be pretty good - but I still want to know what happens after World of Trouble!

Finished “The Red Tent” . Loved it.

I am currently reading Being Mortal by Atul Gawande. So far I am finding it a fascinating read about aging.

As to audiobooks:

I originally got The Last Policeman on audio book. I would listen to it while walking my dog or riding my bike. However, I didn’t particularly like the narrator, and as the story picked up, I wanted to read it instead.

On the other hand, I bought Me Talk Pretty One Day as a Kindle book, and so far it’s just okay. But posters here say he’s hilarious on audiobook!

So would you guys recommend all of his books as audiobooks, or just the Me Talk Pretty One Day?

I just started A Little Life after reading about it on Huff Post books, and I must say I am hooked. The review compared it in some ways to The Goldfinch, and I think that seems accurate in the sense that if you like a really immersive, detailed story like The Goldfinch, then you may like this as well. It’s been a while since I read a book I didn’t want to put down!

I’m intrigued by that book, @GoldenWest‌. I loved The People in the Trees last year.

Now I will have to add that one to my list too!

It was very unique. Reminded me a bit of “State of Wonder” by Ann Patchett.
