Only IB students?

I think it’s an advantage to have an IB Diploma, at least in a sense. Penn regional admissions officer said that they recognize it as the most difficult course of study in high school.

I’m going to be frank and say that this thread is a little silly. If you don’t take IB, then you don’t get accepted? That’s a joke. I have never taken an IB class, and I was accepted. Now, my school is big with AP while offering no IB, but an IB diploma is by no means “worth more” than good grades in other challenging courses. What your friends experienced MAY have more to do with a feeling that your friend who didn’t do IB wasn’t challenging himself, but that is not a problem IB-specific. I would also assert that college applications are too holistic and “overall, what kind of person does this application portray?” to necessarily chalk up the acceptance/rejection to JUST taking IB vs. not taking IB.

You don’t get an IB diploma until well after college admissions are over.

this is to anyone who would answer…what is your ib score and the average scores of your school. This is just becuse every one i know seems to get at least a 40 with the EE and TOK presentation and they put in really very little effort. Is this abnormal?

The only test score I have so far is French, and I got a 6. Don’t know any of the other ones yet.

My school doesn’t have IB, so I guess I can’t really relate. 4 people (including me) applied to Yale EA. 1 was accepted, and us other 3 were deferred. So, in terms of Yale accepting only IB, that is false (because we were all AP). But if your school has both IB and AP, and IB is harder, then AP will look less favorable than IB at your school.

I’m in the IB diploma programme, but 6 others at my school were too–and they were all rejected/deferred.

in my area of ohio, barely any high schools offer A.B. so it doesn’t really apply.
i think what matters most is that your taken the hardest curriculum possible. if your school doesn’t offer it, you can’t take it

whoa!!! So do colleges view IB>AP? My school offers both (which is why my school sucks at both) and I took AP. That doesn’t hurt me right???
