Though I’ve lived in Maine for a few decades, I’m a Michigander from Ann Arbor and the thought of my son going to school in the Midwest makes the long distance easier to accept. My parents were from Southern Indiana and graduated from Indiana. I have family and friends in Michigan who would be only a few hours drive away if he had an emergency. I’ve never found New Englanders to be standoffish, but I’d love my son to enjoy the warmth and boisterousness of Midwesterners.
