I live in coconut grove - very close to UM’s location in the gables and have had UM kids intern at my company. I am familiar with UM’s neighborhood. Crime is not an issue. it is in a genteeler part of miami. coral gables is a different city but for all practical purposes, you should think of it as south miami with a bunch of nice houses.
