OOS Mechanical Engineering Transfer

Hey guys,

I’m a Sophomore in MechE at a mid-tier UC (Univ. of California). I am thinking of applying for a transfer to Georgia Tech for Fall 2013.

Right now, my cumulative GPA is about 3.5 and my math-science is about 3.6. The application is available January 15th and so I have 1 more quarter to raise my GPA(s).
Also, I have a C in an Engineering class (AutoCAD), but I only included the class in my cumulative GPA above since it technically isn’t ‘Math’ or ‘Science’. Other than that, grades are B or above…

Do you think I’d have a shot at MechE? Online, it says the average admitted GPA was 3.55 cumulative and 3.50 math-science, but MechE is impacted. To top it off, I’m also Out of State.

Would I stand a better shot at some non-impacted engineering major, and try to change majors once at GaTech?

Also, does GaTech only consider cumulative GPA, math-science GPA, and major choice? Can one submit letters of recommendation?

Thanks!
