Opening Fruit Containers at Stores

They are weighing the pros and cons of paying less in cashier wages and benefits compared to what they lose through self check out.

Target changed their self check out to an express lane, meaning 10 items or less.

I prefer self checkout if I don’t have too many items, but if I have a lot of produce or alcohol, it is annoying when that’s all that’s open. I’ll go through the self checkout when the only guy available is this one dude, I just know he has bodies buried in his back yard. He is seriously creepy, and I’ve noticed that people tend to avoid his lane, and stand in a longer line for someone else.

There is a display in my supermarket that has a sign that says “ free fruit for kids”. Usually bananas and clementines.

I remember many years ago there was a lovely cheese store nearby. They had lots of stuff - cheese, crackers, candies, chocolates, etc. As you walked through they offered samples at many of the sections. We went once with my mother in law. She didn’t quite understand and started randomly sampling stuff that was in the various displays (but not as samples).

At our grocery store the grapes and cherries are also pre packaged with a ziplock top and a code. They are filled to the max - I don’t want 4 pounds of cherries. Me and others will get a produce plastic bag and put the desired amount of grapes or cherries in it.
