Why would it be? It’s just another engineering degree. Hardly an elite few.

“just another engineering degree”
Interesting way to look at it. Perhaps JD is more prestigious…

I don’t think you can compare them without knowing something about the school. A Yale JD will be more prestigious than any engineering degree. But engineering > some podunk law school.

So engineering at MIT << JD at Yale, In your opinion.
I think many would agree with you, but some might object

In terms of prestige, definitely yes. Yale JDs go on to be presidents and supreme court justices.

Bump. :)

Bump

I’ll throw out another way of looking at prestige. In my neighborhood, I am sometime the envy of my neighbors who are a mixture of small business owners, middle managers, sales, who are are all successful in their own right. BUT when they look at the play structure I built in my backyard, or odd projects I do with my kids like air/water rockets built from scrap, I know I carry some prestige.

Maybe its me, maybe its my degree (engineering). Who knows.

Well, Elite or not, the MA in Engineering offers the best job prospect post graduation. JD and MBA will require connections to secure some high paying job, and Psychology is over-saturated at the masters level anyway, even at the terminal level as-well.
So far, MBA is becoming less relevant except you obtained it @ the IVY’s, U.Chicago etc. In general, an Elite degree/institution can only get you so far, PASSION, FIT, & BALANCE will matter more in the real world.
Best of luck to you.

If you look at midcareer earning statistics, this just isn’t true. Engineers do well soon after graduation, but their earnings don’t rise very much.

@keepittoyourself; This was in comparison to the list she provided. It was not a generalized statement for all careers. You suggested Yale JD, however, what is OP can not get into and IVY, but still wants to go to college and pursue her dreams? Certainly, OP will have to decide what career field he/she goes into with or without an Elite admission.
