Orientation soon

If I got a 4 in Calc BC will I have to test into a math class or will I automatically be assigned (engineering major)?
Will I actually need to bring copies of SAT/transcript? [UCLA New Student & Transition Programs - Transition Programs](http://www.newstudents.ucla.edu/faqs.htm)
Seems redundant…
I understand that I may not receive my first choice of classes, so I’ve been trying to plan ahead. As I’m aware, an adviser will give me tips but I’ve been browsing some webpages for backup options.
Is my best bet to use the schedule of classes: http://gyazo.com/7b558bd904ce510aa32138159de251b2.png?1344822871</a>
or the curriculum page to prepare backup options:
[Chemical Engineering Curriculum — UCLA Engineering Office of Academic and Student Affairs](http://www.seasoasa.ucla.edu/undergraduates/che-department-curricular-updates/chemical-engineering-curriculum)

Thanks any who can help.

In terms of AP Credit Scores, a lot of things have been changed in the recent few years, so it’s probably better to ask it on the UCLA Class of 2016 Facebook Group. But based on my experience when I entered UCLA a few years ago, you don’t need to take the placement test, you’ll be automatically enrolled in 31A unless you choose to waive out of it.
But again, now it seems that has changed. [AP Credit - School of Engineering and Applied Science - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/APCreditEN.htm) You can’t waive 31A with a 4 now, you only get general credit.
But then again, this page … [UCLA Department of Mathematics](<a href=“Undergraduate Program | UCLA Department of Mathematics”>Undergraduate Program | UCLA Department of Mathematics) says something completely different, that you can indeed waive 31A with just a 4 in BC and that you don’t need to take the test.

Copies of SAT/transcript are needed if you’re confused about AP credits. Your NSA or major counselor can help you with that, and if that’s the case, you’ll need your SAT/transcript.

Use the curriculum page as a resource page - the classes that you’ll need to take in order to graduate. But since it cannot tell you the real enrollment count and status, it is your best bet to use schedule of classes. You can also alternatively use the MyUCLA Class Planner, and just come up with a lot of back-up plans. The Class Planner also has real enrollment count, so you know which classes are full/which ones are not.

I’m also an engineering major. You don’t need to bring SAT’s/AP’s/Transcripts, just know them. You’ll have to hand write and give them to your NSA. Also, if you took any community college courses and the transcript hasn’t sent, it might be easier to hand deliver it during orientation.

I’m not sure what that guy was talking about, but no. You will not be taking the placement exam. Right now you are eligible to choose to either take Math 31 A (Calc AB), or take Math 31 B (Calc BC).
Basically,
5 on AB= 31A option to waive 31A-> 31B (can choose to take the placement exam, waste of time).
4 on BC= 31A option to waive 31A-> 31B (can choose to take the placement exam, waste of time).
5 on BC= 31B option to waive 31B-> 32A (cannot take placement exam.)
-the placement test will only test you out of some intro pre calculus class and put you in Math 31a at the highest, it’s pointless. and you can take it as many times as you want.

It’s more so, you won’t get the times for the classes you want. But this might lead to overlapping class times, and therefore, not getting the classes you want. So you will most likely get the classes you want, but you should have a class or two as backups.

@ YouSeeLuckyAce: Are you sure? Cause I was just referencing the UCLA Admissions Website which was last updated Mar 2012, and according to that, you can only waive 31A if and only if you get a 5 on the BC exam. Source: [AP Credit - School of Engineering and Applied Science - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/APCreditEN.htm)
But if you’ve been to orientation and did all of this already, then ok, they need to update the website to reflect that then! >_<

I’m enrolled in Math 32a with a 5 in BC, I am sure. The website says that because our transcript will actually be given credit for taking and completing Math 31A (possibly so we don’t even have the option of taking 31A since it’s on our transcript and will clearly be a repeat), but like I said, I believe we waive 31B and it isn’t noted on our transcript–credit wise. BUT in terms of completing prereqs/ it’s completed for Engineers either way.
