Orientation Week-Parents

I didn’t really feel that much pressure to drink (and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t usually drink). I occasionally skulled off versus a few friends of mine, but that was in fun, and without anyone shouting that “here’s to , here’s to _” song.

I was there. My gf goes to McGill and was in orientation and I lived in the ghetto.

No… the main difference here is that McGill funds and obviously supports the drinking. I don’t think you get it. Of course there is partying at most other universities during frosh week, but the universities don’t fund it!

Zah? Are Frosh activities free? So SSMU’s got a contract with MacAuslan and Boreale breweries (a much better deal than with Molson, in so many ways). How’s is that different from McGill’s contract with Charter’s for food management? Or that Coca-Cola exclusivity deal they tried to pass n times? How is that “funding” and supporting drinking? All students 18 and up have the right to drink alcoholic beverages, McGill has no reason to interfere with perfectly legal activities. What would be the point anyway?
