Don’t wait until orientation to register your laptop. Do it now! https://computingaccounts.ucdavis.edu/cgi-bin/services/index.cgi

Click on “Ethernet (NIC) Registration”
Find the MAC address of your laptop.
If you’re using Windows:
a) Click the Windows button
b) Type in ‘cmd’ into the search box Or just open up Command Prompt
c) Type in ipconfig /all in the command prompt
d) Your MAC address will be the numbers looking like 00-01-AB-CD-E7-89 under ‘Ethernet Adapter’. Don’t mix it up with the Wireless MAC address… you do NOT need to register that.
e) Type that into the website and register it! (You can register multiple addresses if you’d like)

For Mac:
a) Go to your System Preferences
b) Click on Network
c) Choose your Ethernet connection
In one of those tabs, there should be your MAC address in there. Register that number.

NOTE: BRING YOUR ETHERNET CABLE!!! The dorms have little to no WiFi in the dorms. Trust me, at least over half the students don’t bring ethernet cords and have no internet unless they sit in the lounge =P

If you choose not to bring your laptop, you will have to register with the Student Coordinator’s laptop. You’ll have to wait your turn and by then, your class may have filled up! Good luck =D
