The Prolia doesn’t bother a lot of people, but it has some of the same risks as the biphosphonates. Also, I felt tired and achy from it.
I have no idea if anything was actually happening to my jaw from the drug. It was probably psychomatic. But I do think it’s important to very carefully weight the benefits and risks of medications.
One good, non-drug tip for everyone but especially those with osteoporosis or osteopenia is to work on one’s balance and on preventing and avoiding falls. You’re much less likely to have a broken bone if you keep on your feet.
I think CC automatically closes threads that had no posts in several months (6?). That thread needs to be reopened - it was gold!

Any chance it can be reopened?
I took Fosamax for about 7 years. The limit is supposed to be 5 years, but that hadn’t been established at the time when I started, so I ended up taking it a little longer than recommended. I had no side effects and no problems, and my rate of bone loss decreased during the period when I was treated. I’ve been off the drug now for more than a year, and I’m not looking forward to my next scan results.
I hope they come up with something else for those of us who’ve already reached our bisphosphonate limit.
The other thread is unlocked now if anyone wants some good info.
@Marian, I was in the same position as you except I’d been on Fosomax for 10 years. I learned to ask questions on MDs suggesting medications based on that experience, I have mild osteopenia in one hip, not close to osteoporosis. Arguably, the condition should have been monitored but not medicated. In any case, my numbers have remained steady after going off the meds. I have increased the amount of weight beating exercise I’ve been doing. Good luck to you!
